Cameron Mods

I actually did hear some Blades clips that sounded pretty good, but then a couple of pretty well known amp builders showed me some pictures of the guts of a few of his amps and were shocked at how shoddy they were. This was early on. I actually remember someone saying one caught on fire, no joke. But that was a long time ago.

There’s a few amp builder pages I’m a member of that are seeing crap quality from Michael R/T too. I’m calling him out because he actually sold an amp to someone and when it no longer worked he wouldn’t warranty the work he did. So yeah, lots of people have a desire to mod, Blades, R/T, etc. and many shouldn’t step within 10 feet of a soldering iron.

I think this lead tone is ripping. It’s a Blades amp.

Yeah maybe I’m sure his first stuff wasn’t up to snuff. But I bought mine. Sold it to Jeff Hilligan that was partners with Bruce Egnater in the past. He took it apart. Said it was solid.
I still can’t find another used 50 watt Firebolt!! Haha
Had the Reaper. It was cool. But that first Firebolt I had was definitely Camron tone then some. Not trying to shit on Billy Or Mark. But owned both their amps. Just my opinion.

You can’t find one because they all burnt to a crisp

If i knew then what I know now I never would’ve sold it. I was just so hung up on it not being 100 watts. But man it fucking ripped!
But when I landed a 100 watt one. That magic tone was gone.

I paid just under 3k for my Aldrich clone. The prices are nuts on them but that’s what it takes.

Billy Blades will make you a Cameron clone ??
It will come with a beer/fire extinguisher holder too

That had more to do with his inability to control component tolerance and build tolerances amp to amp than the wattage. The power amp wattage really doesn’t contribute that much to the overall tone. The NFB circuit does, as does the OT specs. It can be challenging, but a good designer knows how to scale from 50 to 100 properly including new OT specs without changing anything. If anything, 100W always sound bigger to me.

Don't know about one catching on fire but I remember they had safety issues.

Remember Dirty Steve? He posted these:

Check out the red 'short' wire from PT to white wire in that second photo.

And "triple soldering" was something he (Billy Blades) coined for added protection.

Not a scam. It was definitely built and sold by Cameron as an Ocean. I remember the original reverb listing when Jason put it up. I believe this is the exact amp. Mark playing. Sounds cool but not 7k cool I mean fuck.

The Monomyth Origin I had would shit all over that based on this video.

My favorite Cameron mod is the "Vanish" mod. You send him your amp and money and it vanishes forever.
I did exactly that! Gave him $1000 cash to start a custom build, a 75 Marshall to mod and a Metaltronix Blues 59 head. Never saw him again as he picked up and left LA.

I guess it was a one off ? But it sounds WAY better then that ocean for 7k lol

That was a Metropoulos Suoer Bass that I had Mark mod some years back. I got all the pictures of it. Inside and out. As a matter of fact I shot that video. Definitely a one off. Was a Jose mod.

You still got it ? Sounded awesome in the vid man !
