Not that i need another tele but it sounds and just feels right. $2300 is a bit overkill for me but GC has a mint used one for $1599 and in texas tea with ebony board

Has a bridge pup that you can actually use without the spike and ice pick

There's also a few open boxes online for $1899

Id probably trade in my G&L MIA blues boy which i never really got along with.

2k for what amounts to a pretty basic tele is way overkill. Ain't no way I'd pay that. I'd probably just build a parts machine if it was me, or buy a cheaper tele locally and load what I wanted into it and order a warmoth neck if I wanted something different. Man, that world has gone insane with pricing.

Great guitar, I have one. You may be able to get one cheaper from Franklin Guitar Works, that's where I got mine.

Personally I'm not buying a fancy guitar without stainless frets unless it's something super awesome that can't be had with SS, and then I'll probably refret it.

There is a lot to be said for a specific guitar that you have played and determined to be awesome though.

Got this bad boy for under 1k.

For $1599 grab it.
I bought a Fender American Ultra II HSS Strat and the quality is amazing.
Best quality Strat I have ever owned.
The Pickups in the American Ultras are not pure traditional, they have a very hifi sound to them, but they are still great.

Thanks, Franklin Guitar Works on ebay has some unbelievable deals.
What good is buying just the body
Going to cost me like $350 or more for a nice neck.
Now up up to $1300 and more plus tuners

For 300 more i can get the used one and have it matching with proper serial numbers

I hear ya, I got mine a bit cheaper because it was an auction, not a "Buy It Now".

Make sure you get the case with yours. Mine cost me an extra $125.

Not shitting on expensive Fenders but after a trip to GC, also curious about an Ultra Tele (sucker for a black Tele with binding on the body) I walked out realizing, after playing different models, that I would easily be content with a Player II and a used one at that, for significantly less.
I actually prefer a more vintage type SC that barks and is more raw in the mids. The price point of the Player II’s makes any desired PU swaps easier to swallow if the OEM lose favor.
The upper tier Fenders tend to have pickups that are trying to be too modern, smoother, higher output. Problem is Fender sends out a lot of this upper tier guitars with just some of the worst setups I’ve seen and felt on a USA guitar, so the wow factor is almost zero when you pick it up and play a little.

Those Mexican player series are off the charts. For $900 you got something that will last a lifetime

Fender has really upped the quality on the Ultra's, but definitely in a modern sense. The body curves, the rolled frets etc. make them real comfortable.

Also, they have made updates to the pickups on the Ultra II. If you tend to play with lots of gain, they are pretty amazing.

Last couple of regular production USA Fender and Mexico Charvels had neck warp, wood too green.
I'd be more inclined to grab the Suhr Antique Classic T in the emporium right now.

The Mexican stuff is garbage, shit necks and pickups.

I have a feeling Fender made the Ultra series because of Suhr.
