Dude...... I fucking love this album.
So many good nuggets on it.
We play "Mandatory Suicide " and South of heaven.
Best thrash put there.

well yes and no, riff wise, show no mercy is epic man. Imagine if they would re record that album the way Testament did with First strike still deadly, that would just slay. Metalstorm/Face the slayer is one of my favorites. But now that Jeff left us, it will never happen :aww: He wrote some killer riffs.

But yeah, South of heaven is also a masterpiece, i looove that album.

Going to see them in Montreal, we rented a bus/limo, 15 metal heads with beer and weed going to a Slayer show, lol, that is gonna be killer.

I've gotta say Reign in Blood is still my favorite album of theirs. Everything else is a distant 2nd.

No...I can not agree. To me, Seasons was their pinnacle record. Nothing before or after has touched that record in my opinion. I think since Seasons they have gradually declined and I think pre- Seasons they were great and working up to their high point in Seasons.

MY $.02

The riff in skeletons of society, so good! My favorite slayer riff, but south of heaven is my favorite album. I am 41 now, and got that when I was about 19 I think, and was fired up!!

It's a close call between SoH and Seasons - both are awesome..

Come on, Die by the sword, black magic, fight till death, crionics..... Maybe im old. Lol

Classic Slayer.

But for sure Seasons and heaven are killer.

I just can't agree. It would have to be a toss up between Seasons and Divine.

I will say South of Heaven has a couple of my favorite songs ever and is a definite third place but I liked both Seasons and Divine better as a whole.

I am 35 however and the first Slayer I ever heard was not Haunting the Chapel. I did own every single Slayer album after I heard them until that cover CD Undisputed Attitude. I did not really like that and then Diabolus was a major let down.

I got God hates us all thinking Slayer would return but the title track was the only good track to me. I have not even heard their latest album. Maybe it is great idk?

IMO they had an amazing run but can never be as good as they were back in their prime.

Now after seeing this I was urged to check out Repentless. Pretty cool, almost sounds like Slayer.

Can we agree that Kerry King is still the 2nd best guitarist in the band?

Reign in blood was Slayers pinnacle. Consistently voted #1 thrash album of all time. Guess you had to be there to truly understand its significance(fuck,I am old).

Show no mercy was the one that grabbed me by the short hairs when it came out. Learned that whole album right away, and never went back to wimpy, slow metal(wow,I'm older than I thought, thanks 7 stringer, lol). Then hell awaits and haunting were great, some classic abet badly produced slayer material.

IMO,silent scream and ghosts of war were the only tunes on south of heaven I really got into enough to learn the whole songs. Guess it's just the uptempo tunes that I really get into. By the time SOH and seasons came out,I was only finding a few songs on each album that I was really digging. Blasphemous,I agree, but that's how I've seen slayer for a loooong time.

This is the album where i lost interest in slayer.
How could anyone not see reign in blood as the penultimate?
They could never again reach the sheer aural brutality of RIB.
It was a perfect run up to this point.
This album sounds half baked, too clean and this record marks exactly where the band began to be formulaic and stopped innovating.
There are some decent songs and riffs on this record but it's basically all second rate slayer after this right up until the present day.

They put out tons of great thrash.

One of my top 3 songs by them is "Killing Fields" off Divine.
Love that song!!

SUPPORTTHEWARAAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!WARSUPPPPOOOOORRRRRTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope...Reign in Blood is THE album.
Hell Awaits next, then yours could contend for a spot.

As a day one Slayer fan, I will say that Reign in Blood is the all time classic Slayer album.

I'm not a big Slayer fan but have to admit that there are some songs that I really dig. Some are obvious like "Angel of Death", "Seasons", etc.

I tell you though, one of their songs that really knocked me out was the new one "Repentless". I don't know what it is about that one but just a really kickass song and the video is cool as well.

Hell awaits and Reign in blood tied as favorite album.
Psychopathy red is the favorite song.

Agree fully. I as you, was there as a 15 year old teen in search of the ultimate metal. I remember it like yesterday. Celtic Frost, Megadeth's peace sells was out at the same time, many more.. But Reign in Blood just had it all. Speed, anger, and a violent evil vibe that set the tone.

Still to this day, easily my favorite thrash album of all time. Famous pic of them on the back of that album says it all for that time period.

Fuckin A

Nothing is better then seeing "the pit" start up at a Slayer show.
Like watching a Tornado in full force.
