But even some Trump allies have privately hoped that after implementing the harsh new duties — and proving to the world he’s willing to act decisively — Trump could eventually ease up, as long as he’s extracted some concessions.

What exactly those concessions might be, however, isn’t clear. Before implementing the tariffs, Trump did not meet or speak on the telephone with Trudeau or with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to spell out his demands.

Trudeau said Saturday he’d been trying to reach Trump since the inauguration, but his calls have not been returned.

Briefing reporters Saturday evening, White House officials declined to lay out specific benchmarks that Canada or Mexico could reach in tightening their borders or curbing fentanyl flows that would allow the tariffs to be lifted.

And Trump himself told reporters late Friday he wasn’t looking for any concessions at all. In his social media posting Sunday morning, his rationale for the tariffs extended well beyond punishment for the illicit flow of fentanyl.

You are weeks, maybe a couple months away from being annexed with the support and backing of your own people.

They are a couple months away from deep economic recession. Or capitulation. One or the other. Meanwhile we will soon have a shit ton of high paying jobs opening up down south when we start drilling for oil in the Gulf of America.
I want full control over Mexico, Canada, and Panama. I want a hacienda down in the baja minus the cartels and I want to bring my AK across the border as though it were any other southern state line when I visit. These tariffs should bring more money and opportunities to Americans, it's great!!!

Sen. Tim Kaine argued Sunday on “State of the Union” that Americans will see increased prices at the pump within days and that American businesses will be harmed once the other nations’ retaliatory tariffs kick in.
They will be harmed once US tariffs kick in.

Tariffs are the way we eliminate property and income taxes on Americans. All that money we gave other nations...it's time to restore the years the worms ate away.

Guess who will collect that money and control those "Opportunities"? The same people that made you get an injection if you wanted to work. Don't be fooled, we're not headed into a new golden age of American entrepreneurialism.

I never have a positive outlook but if it means taking back money from foreign lefty slackers that have been getting the better end of the bargain for decades I am still for it. Tariffs and Sheriffs are constitutionally sound. Property tax, income tax, and city police are not.

Who do you think pays for tariffs brother?

It's both. The US controls tariffs on goods entering the US, so suddenly many US businesses face higher costs on their necessary suppliers.
And because Canada and Mexico are major importers of US goods, that will hurt the exporters since Mexico and Canada will buy less of those items. It really is senseless.
They will be harmed once US tariffs kick in.

Not me cause I don't buy Canadian products. I guess for people who do it's time to find some competitive pricing stateside. Free trade should never have happened and the fault can be laid at the feet of Democrats and RINOs.
