Looks like the Raven is getting into some hands. @the other John Browne just posted a video on it.

Cool, it sounds like a smoother V30 but not so smooth as to sound neutered. Sounds great to me.

Man, between this and the Karnivore, metal players have been getting some great options for the past couple years. Glad people will finally have some truly good alternatives to the beaten to death, resurrected, and re-beaten back to death boosted 5150 or Recto -> V30 4x12 -> SM57 standard.

It sounds thin and fizzy to my ears. Probably needs to be broken in compared to the V30 in this video. Sounds sort of like your typical Celestion/Marshall-voiced speaker ala T75/K100/H75. More in that realm than anything totally different.

Funny thing, break-in doesn't really happen like that. People assume broken in speakers get darker, and quickly, but real break-in happens over like hundreds of hours and it actually makes the most reproduced frequencies relatively louder than everything else. Play a fizzy tone through a speaker for a hundred+ hours and it will get even more fizzy, etc.

I guess I meant initial break in. Im not an expert or anything, I just know my vintage speakers almost all sound darker than the newer ones. That’s interesting to think the amp can mold the speakers tone over time like that. But ya this speaker is not for me. It’s also 96db so it won’t blend well with V30s. Could be good with greenbacks tho for some extra sizzle and modern flavor.
