96db? Looks like the EVH with a bass cone and extra doping. If so, I’m not too interested as the EVH’s are currently the darkest speaker I own. Unless I’m missing something here.

I have 2 68s on the top row of my 68 straight cab. 2 69 1221s on the bottom.

I also have a 1977 slant with BB T1511s. Unreal aggressive tone. I didn't get the BB thing(had 2 H30, 1 M25 cab) until I bought this one.
T1511s are my fave GB.
Did the BB T1511 have the 014 cones? Never liked the 70’s era speakers much. I was going to get Scumback to make me some like mine were. May try these when they come out.

No it was mostly 444 Kurt Mueller cones by then from memory.

These are the typical Kurt Mueller cones with 444 stamps....I've also had a cream back cab from 74 with RIC T1511s. They all have a mid scoop to them that for me are near perfect with a Marshall. The BBs though are extra aggressive.

Were they always a standard model? Not that I looked around back then, just thought they were a pre rola thing that eventually ran its course and was replaced with something else.

Interesting, mine were not scooped, pretty balanced overall. Solid tight bass. Regular GB’s do sound scooped to me. Pretty bummed when they died.

Maybe it's more of a 'balanced' tone like you say, vs actually mid scooped. The regular T1221 GB has a mid bump, so when I hear those vs the 1511 it seems scooped to me. Although, the 74 creambacks definitely seemed more scooped than these 77s.

Are the EVH celestion speakers similar to the celestion black backs

I haven’t been around the 1221’s very much other than the 90’s 6402 Wizard used and the modern ones. I don’t hate those, well except for recording. These more modern ones sound somewhat scooped to me. And the low end is more ratty than I prefer. But they can work.
The old 1511’s I had sure sounded good. Be nice if these new ones have that tone.

All of my T1511s are from 1968-1973 and came stock in Park cabinets. In fact, they are the only speakers that I have ever seen in Park cabs after t1221 20 watters in pinstripe cabs. I've had/have four 4X12 park cabs from 68-71 as well as three 4X12 park cabs from 72-73 (different construction and cosmetics between those two eras of Park cabs). They all have T1511s. Definitely not mid scooped at all. Scumback makes a cool T1511 clone that I have loaded in a MGL 4X12, but I do want to try these new celestions!

it's still not a T1221 with Pulsonic cones.
I have two vintage Fanes with Pulsonic cones, one of which is a 25 watt 55hz bass cone. What a warm, sweat, and clear sounding speaker that purrs when driven to breakup. It definitely was not scooped sounding though, especially with any kind of overdrive or speaker breakup.

The other was a 20 watt 75hz cone Fane POP. I had them both in a open back 2x12, but unfortunately fried the 20 watt speaker.

That 2x12 on top of my SRO 15 loaded 1x15 cab was epic for cleans and vintage classic rock tones.

Mine were in the two 68 Marshall cabs I have.

How do you like the Scumbacks? Do you have the low watt or 65 watt versions? The 65 watt is what I was looking at.
