Celestion Lynchback...and.....or V30? GB?

I have tried all the common celestion models in my Kerry Wright 2x12 Diagonal, and have mixed them. Lots of great options. was rocking a Heritage green/G12H mix until I got me some Lynchbacks. Currently I have two Lynchbacks in there now, and they frickin rock! Lots of low end! I'm still perplexed on guys saying that the new Creamback has more low end then a Lynchback. It absolutely does not in my house/with my rigs. The Creamback lack low end, and the Lynchback is very punchy with ballzy low end. I sold the Creambacks, I didnt care for them at all, very uninspiring speaker to me and my friends, and I am a Greenback lover. Sorry to throw you a curve ball.
Yes, the Lynchback mixes well with the V30, and I am currently dreaming of a 4x12 with lynchback/V30 X-pattern mix.

I have recently mixed a couple different types of greenbacks with a lynchback, and I went back to having the two Lynch's. Mixing works with this speaker, but I feel that it is a unique speaker that stands tall on its own.

Update from me as well:

This weekend my band did some demo recording. Took my Soldano cab with a pair of Lynchbacks mixed with a pair of Eminence Wizards (high watt combo of a G12H and G12M). Sounded damn good and didn't feel like they were fighting each other; complimented one another nicely. I will hopefully have an isolated track within a week or so to show you guys.

I like the Lunckback but V30s and the new Creamback is still my two favorite.
LBs lack a bit of thick mids for me, and I prefer a more full low end, but they blend great with Creambacks. I don't like the Lynchbacks alone in a 212. Creambacks sound better in a 212. Similar to LBs, but more mids and bigger lows.

Live Creambacks and Lynchbacks in a 412 but I need a blend cause the LBs don't have enough squish. However, my favorite speakers for a 212 are V30s or G12K100s.

If I had to choose, I would take Creambacks over Lynchbacks.

The Lynchback has a fuller low end than almost every Celestion......except for maybe the G12H30. I don't see how they managed to do that with a small magnet. I really doubt that the Creamback is going to have more lows.

BTW, how can you make these conclusions without the Creamback even hitting the market yet? Did you somehow get a pair?

Hey bro, you still loving Lynchbacks? I use Lynchbacks and Greenback RIs in my Splawn 412, LOVE the G12K-100s in my StoneAge 212 and have V30s in my Bogner 212 which I HATE! I am sick of V30s. What do you recommend in a 212 cab, Creamback M65/H75 or two Lynchbacks?

I may be one of the few that doesn't like the Bogner 2x12 OS with V30's. I had a few that were just nasty sounding cabs. BUT, my Bogner 4x12 with V30's really does sound good.

I am SHOCKED you say that Dan. You sold me one of your Bogner 212 cabs and it continues to amaze everyone who hears it. It sounds exceptionally good with V30s. :)

Looking back I think it was just that the V30's needed to be broken in. V30's not broken in sound HORRIBLE. Beat on V30 sound freakin great. The Bogner OS2x12 and the Stone Age are both great cabs.

Now, ever try an EVM12L?

This thread has me interested in trying the LB's and Creambacks.

In my Bogner's, the vintage 30's and and EVM-12L's sounded best. In my marshall cab, the Celestion 12-65's were amazing.

I ditched the chesty, brash, scratchy, smeary celestion V30s out of my two Bogner 4x12's, put in Mesa T4335 V30's, and never looked back. Same general V30 tonality, but huge sound quality improvement to my ear in terms of tone, warmth, punch and clarity, especially to the mic...YMMV!!!

New or old G12-65s??

I find the Lynchbacks so much better than the Creambacks.

Guess I didn't subscribe to this thread. Do I still love the Lynchbacks? YES. I'm very tempted to get another pair and throw them in a 4x12, but I really dig them in my oversized 2x12. I tried them in my Gflex 2x12, but it actually sounded terrible - just too much low end frequency and washed out everything else, so I put the Wizards back in the Gflex and the Lynchbacks in my OS 2x12. The Lynchbacks pair up well when I use my OS 2x12 alongside my Soldano 4x12 with V30s.

Lynchbacks are staying. End of story.

I have 2 vintage G12 65 Marshall cabs..one from 1980(checkerboard) and a JCM 800 from '83. Just the best speaker for my taste. GREAT with a Marshall master volume, SLO, VHT D60, really anything I've had in the past 3 years. My favorite.

I'm not a fan of mixing speakers. I just rec'd a quad and they sound great, but not broken in yet. They do sound good in a 4x12 next to a 4x12 with H30 7th Anny though.

+1

I'm also not a fan of mixing. The H30 Anniversary is an excellent recommendation... Especially if you can locate some English made ones... Very very close to vintage tone when broken in.

just don't mix the lynchbacks with g12M ( 25 watters).....the 25 watters have wayyyy too much mids and efficiency is down so they don't balance as well as other choices mentioned here...
