Celestion modeling speaker

Anyone try these?? If im gonna jump into modeling for the first time with some kind of NAM loader into the FX loop of one of my amps, should i grab a couple of these for one of my 2x12'S??

The F12-X200 is a dedicated guitar speaker for amp modelers and IRs. It’s truly a full range driver that delivers a frequency response from 60Hz all the way up to 20kHz. The higher frequency part of the signal is reproduced using a Celestion compression driver which has been integrated using a high-quality crossover circuit. This enables the F12-X200 to reproduce the full spectrum of audible frequencies for the most accurate output possible whatever your environment and set-up.

The F12-X200's response is remarkably neutral, with Celestion technology built in to ensure there are no unwanted colorations that can overpower the input signal. However, the lighter moving mass and straighter sided cone of the type commonly used with guitar speakers gives the X200 the feel and live response of a traditional guitar speaker, delivering all the physical feedback you'd expect from playing through a conventional guitar rig. Used with amp modellers or IRs, in a backline cab or a wedge monitor, on stage or in the studio, it doesn't just sound like great guitar tone, it feels like it too.

I think they got antiquated when things like the Fender FR10 and FR12 came out with a more guitar-cab-like FRFR cab.

A buddy of mine has a quad of these in a 4x12 that he uses when running a Fractal + Crown power amp. I've played a lot of the different amp models through it for amps I've owned, and it's not bad. I wouldn't go selling the OGs, but I'd definitely gig it.

Fender just calls what they use a "special designed" speaker.

The Wampler Pedal Head guy is out hyping up this Celestion though.

I'm actually interested in hearing what people think of it as well. I'm considering going back to modeling (amp, not underwear) and I was thinking of putting one in my Mojotone Canyon 1X12.

It’s a cool concept but I’m skeptical about how realistic it would sound. I’d like to hear a cab with these and a few different IR’s though it just to know. It wouldn’t need to be a totally convincing 1:1 with the real cab, just “good” and realistic / present.

I wonder if it’s closer to something that really does emulate other speakers, or if it simply turns your guitar cab, sound and feel, into a differently shaped PA.

I stand corrected. These are the ones where you build a ported cabinet to Celestion specs and then they are supposed to be excellent.
