Hey guys!

I am really liking the UK V30/Redbacks blend I have in my splawn 412.

Seems balanced and thick/tight/full.

I've been debating the idea of swapping out the V30s for CL80s. Anyone have this pair? So, I'd have Redback/CL80.

The thing is, I don't want to lose my cut with the band.

Your cut is coming primarily from those V30’s. You’d probably loose a little cut with the Lead 80. As always with speakers, you won’t know for sure until you try it.

I agree. Thanks.
I like the Red/V30 a lot.

Trying to decide what to do with my Bogner cab. V30/H30, maybe to something else... :)

I'd change the Redback over the V30. Maybe swap it out for a Creamback or Greenback? Personally I love a V30 with a Creamback. V30 for cut and Creamback for thick mids and lows.

I personally don't care much for Redbacks or Lead 80's. They break up very late and like a previous poster said, need to be pushed really hard.

Personal preference. The Redback is my favorite speaker. Once I started playing them, I've bought more and more. I am not a Cream back fan at all. I tried a few and didn't like. Significantly preferred the Redback. I had all the Cream backs, Greenbacks, Lynchbacks. Once I got the Red, I pretty much stuck with Redbacks, V30s, K100s, CL80s/C90s.
Maybe I'll leave the V30/H30 alone unless I feel the need to change. :)

M65I liked but the H75 sounded too hollow and lacked punch/oomph. When I switched to Redbacks, it was noticable, the depth, punch, complexity, so I haven't looked back!

I never got the pushed hard comment. I don't like speakers to break up, I like them clean.

Thanks for the input!

I agree, Redbacks are great! I've mixed them with M65's, H75's, V30'w, CV75's and EVM's and they're better with V30 types in my opinion but just great regardless. I didn't like the H75 at all. Tried over and over again. I haven't tried a CL80 to compare it though.

V30/H30 is great, I don't think you can go wrong sticking with that. But V30's and Private Jacks are nice too. I've got a PPC212 with that combo and it's 100 watts of goodness.

If I get the Bogner 412ST, I'll try the V30/H75 mix. Why not!?

It will give me some variety.

Interesting, I would think the H75 would be better than the H30 for higher gain tones. No?
Thanks for the input.

If it works, great. If not, I can do CL80 or C90, even a Fane 70.

I too dislike like the sound of speakers being pushed super hard so quite like the Redback. It's got the qualities of a H speaker but with more relaxed highs and extra stiffness, not a bad thing for some genres.

Hmm..
I just found a guy selling a Splawn hybrid slant 412 with Celestion Modern Creambacks and Heritage Creambacks. Not sure I have ever heard of heritage vs modern!?

I think the the H75's are definitely considered better for high gain tones, I just don't like the sound of the H75's personally so it's not much of a contest for me. I really do like the H30/V30 combo, but honestly, neither would be my first choice for high gain I guess. I was pretty surprised by the mix though!

I hear you but V30s are one of my favorite speakers for high gain. Not on their own, but love them mixed with speakers.
Redback/V30, K100/V30 and CL80/V30 for me are all amazing.

I do love row Redbacks in my 212 and I may go two K100s in my other 211.

I like speakers that kick a lit of bass in a 212.

I have redbacks and Creamback 75's in my cab and I love it. Everyone has different taste and applications but for me it's just a tight and really aggressive

I bet I would like that in a 412. In my 212, I didn't like it, so I went with two redbacks.

I am back to running a Redback and Mesa UK Vintage 30 in my Bogner 212OS and it sounds magnificent.

Not sure what to load into my State Craft diagonal 212.

Agreed, that’s a great combo. I’m running those in a Splawn 4x12 and it kills. It’s tight, yet thick af, and the lows are like cannon fire. I’ve also mixed Reds with 20 watt Greenbacks, and that was awesome as well. Next I’m gonna mix them with a pair of Alnico Golds, and I’d bet anything that’s gonna kill also.
Reds have super thick, chewy lower mids, big lows, and seem to mix great with any speaker with aggressive upper mids and highs. They’re one of my favorite Celestions fo sho.

Try a 20 watt Greenback on top. They’ve got super aggressive grinding upper mids.

That's what is in my Splawn 412 - Redbacks/V30s. So now I have two cabs with that mix, one 412 and one 212.
My Bogner 412 is also amazing sounding with Redbacks and Creamback M65s.
