Celestion Speakers >_<

I'm all in on the F70s..
It's what you're used to..
I have a 412 of V30s from Avatar I've had for a long time.. They are Helatones which are beaten up and broken in..
I plugged in the other day and
they
are
so fuckin' bright and spikey..
It's good to have different speakers for perspective..
The f 70s are very balanced and nice. I think if celestion were trying to make f70, the redback is the closest speaker for sure.

I love the Greenback top / V30 bottom setup since it covers so much territory, even if it's boring. Have an Orange PPC212 with UK V30 and M-65 Creamback that also sounds amazing for higher gain stuff.

Different strokes……I personally can’t stand G12-65’s. That includes some original 75hz, the Heritage reissue, Scumback BM-75LD, and Weber 1265. All are just flat and dull to me. I’ve tried over and over to like them due to hype.

My favorites speakers in order are the current UK Greenbacks, Fane 30’s, Fane F25’s, and any variant of Celestion V30 (I can make all of them work with some EQ.
Huh, something doesn't sound right here, but maybe you just hate that type of speaker. A client did a comparison of my BM75-LD and an old G12-65 in this clip.

And wanted to say it but will say it now.....

Having heard so many speakers in general in person or on vids..... the only other thing I would take aside from Genuine Celestion or Jenson is a Scumback and aside from that everything else is RC Cola IMO.

If you are looking at something nicer than and arguably better than Celestion Scumback is the go to choice IMO.

Really feel Celestion should do an American Alnico line.....

Like their A series but Alnico...... the Creamback IMO is amazing in any Fender Reissue though and aside from a Jenson Alnico would say those are probably some of the best you can put in a Fender right now.

Just FYI, it's like:
Jenson = Coko
Jensen = Coke

Man, the 65 sounds like it has a blanket over it compared to that Scumback. Now I know it could be mic positioning etc but I too sometimes find the 65 to be a bit too smooth.

I really like Chinese Greenbacks AND Weber Legacy 65's which are what, formula taken from Scumback,Weber, Celestion. Eminence is hit/miss for me. I have some now long discontinued eminence Lynch Super V's and they are actually really cool too. Fane / V30 sort of deal supposedly. Sound nice.

I'm a fairly devout (not quite fanatical) proponent of 'older is better' but nowhere is that truer in the amp universe than in speakers. If there's a single make or break component in my signal chain, it's old (40+ years) speakers for me. Moreso than even tubes, pickups, amps, guitars, etc.

Mine is in a 1961 Fender Brown Deluxe. It is bad ass.
Still hate myself for not getting a 61/62 Vibrolux, pre Covid for about $2000. It had a replaced speaker but still sounded amazing. Beautiful cleans, edge of breakup, sweet Tremolo and plexi like, raw, tight overdrive when cranked (T high, B low/off). I’m talking harmonics up the wahzoo. All with a Les Paul. A brown Vibrolux at a non-insane price is hopefully coming home one day.

Honestly you know what isn't bad that doesn't get a lot of love.....

A broken in 70/80. Off the shelf yes they are terrible but once that sucker breaks in, it's one of the most sensitive and dynamic speakers out there.

Billy Gibbons loves them too.

This or damn well any speaker that's been broken in well some. If you think it's decent once you got it or okay it just gets better with age and that is the truth.

Mine is all original except the speaker ( I do have the Oxford in a box somewhere though), the grill cloth and the rear baffle. I did send it to Don Butler in SoCal several years ago for a cap job. He sent me the originals back in a baggie too.

I have a pair of Blackplates in it and currently I believe 2 Bugle Boys and a Mazda silver anode.
