don't forget sanding sealer, that stuff is pretty hard to get filled.
I'm using 2 coats of PAcer Z-Poxy Finishing Resin for that and then multiple coats of Killer Cans 2K Speed Clear before some coats of the grey Spray Max 2K Rapid Primer Filler. Should be good...

I like the Zebra.

On a side note, is the cutout for the Floyd off center?
It's just like every body I've ever ordered and I already checked it and everything lines up Floyd cutout is always longer on that side on the bodies I've worked with...

Steve

Interesting, never realized that... carry on.

You might want to start with a good grain filler before laying down all that other stuff. I don't know the grain characteristics of Korina but if it's anything like mahogany or ash it won't matter how much stuff you spray, the grain will soak it up. I learned that the hard way on an ash bodied strat I'm painting now. Grainfilled it twice, sealed it, primed it and it still shows some of the grain through the color :aww:

Z-Poxy IS a brush applied grain filler. I know how to apply it and I know what to do if there is still grain once I get to the primer... Of course, all of this is in theory until I put it into practice.

me too!

i did natural finish, can't remember now if i sealed first, but can remember coat after coat after coat of tru-oil trying to get that grain filled.

Tru-oil makes a grain filler, IIRC. I just got done with the finishing on my Charvel project, but I wanted the grain to show, for more of a raw wood feel.

This looks hot. What specs did you go for with the neck?

I love Explorers, more power to you if you want a zebra paint job.

Do you have to wet sand that after it dries or are you hoping for zero dust in the paint?

You guys should have posted a pic of all your guitars in the same thread and sent Barzini into a meltdown.

You sand dry until the clear coats. Then the wet sanding starts...

HA! He just loves my taste in paint jobs!

That wood looks incredible. Even some slight flame to it. Pity it's going to be painted, but it's still going to look bad ass.

Beautiful mission style dining area Steve, the runner sets off the hand tooled look. You must feel warm and at home with a warm Louis XIII between courses.

Yeah the project guitar looks killer as well.
