Anyone else have a love/hate relationship with X2Ns?

I don't like the X2N, personally. I don't know if the old ones were different, but I find the currend ones dark and overly fat. I got one because of Chuck, of course, but I suppose the magic to his tone, aside from his playing, lies in the Valvestate, not the pickup.

I had one that I moved around on a few guitars, and it never worked for me. Ended up always replacing it for Duncan Black Winters, Gibson 500T's, or Duncan Distortions. Those are more my jam if you want an extra hot ceramic bridge pickup.

Uh oh, it has been spoken into existence. Let the neo soul phrase warz commence....again, hopefully with less hate and more participants.

Someone has opened the Neonomicon!

There are plenty of DiMarzios I can't get into for the bridge due to rolled off treble. I NEED treble....my rhythm and lead styles depend on it.

X2N and D Activator X are examples. I had the neck D Activator X in myB.C. Rich ST24 for a while and it was great for shred leads and looked uber-cool, but totally failed for cleans. So I swapped to the original D Activator, and there was a night and day difference in clarity. The D Activators are some of the brightest HBs they make by far, so no wonder I like them so much. Full DA sets in 3 guitars and counting.
