So I took a look inside my 2x12 cab yesterday only to find that my "vintage 30s" are actually Chinese made. In a panic, I wandered out to the garage and checked my old 2x12 combo amp. I found the same thing! I immediately curled up on the floor and began to cry. Everything I'd ever known was being brought into question. What's this all been about? Was this the reason I'm bad at guitar?

After being coaxed back into the house with beer, I calmed down (a little). What is there to be done about this? Clearly I must act! Your thoughts?

Haven’t they been—aside form the Mesa ones—made in China since the late 90s?

Definitely a problem. You need to replace those with G12T-75s immediately.

Chinese V30s sound great , so do made in England. The problem is every speaker of the same model can sound lightly different from one to the other (nature of the beast) Also 16ohm will sound different from 8ohm versions. I find that to be a bigger factor.

Were you happy with the tone?
If so what difference does it make.
Are you going to switch them all out.

I despise anything MIC but sometimes it is what it is

I was hoping y'all would support my degeneracy and encourage me to buy new speakers...and also blame my equipment for my inadequacies. If we're not here to support each others gear degeneracy...

Typically prefer MIC V30s.

Haven't tried them all. Have had maybe 6 or 7 different quads over the years. Including the "golden era" which tbh that OS Mesa cab didnt sound good to me.

Haven't had enough experience and havent had many UK but some of the China sound great to me.

Turns out I have one I'd like to sell. I bought it used, put it in a Brown Deluxe and used it for a year or so. Then when they came out with the Cream 90 I bought one and it's been sitting in a box since. Research indicates it is Chinese and was originally from a Traynor YCV50 BLUE. I doubt it's even properly broken in. I know I didn't put too much time on it.

Yeah this is why it's good to play different cabs or amps of the same model in a store if they have a few options...... This way you get a feel for which one sounds best right then and there.

It sounds nuts but go from AC15 to AC15 or a Princeton to Princeton and they will all sound a bit different due to biasing, speaker, tolerances of components etc etc.

I agree with this . They all do sound so different while retaining the core v30 sound . It’s all luck of the draw
