Classifieds Deal Gone Weird

I wouldn't say it has gone wrong but definitely weird.

I bought an amp on the 18th or 19th, on the 21st I asked if he had found the time to ship it out. The next day I get a response saying that he had shipped it out a few days ago. So I asked for a tracking number which in response he stated that he wasn't there when they picked it up so he didn't have one. So I thought, okay and had told him that I was going to have to remain home as many days as possible to make sure I was there to sign for it. Anyway, I did that until two days ago when I told him I was beginning to feel worried about the whole deal. He responded saying that a lot of stuff was going on and he hadn't had the chance to ship it yet. This is nearly two weeks after he had said it was already shipped. I then said forget it, that at this point I'd rather have my money back. I read his response this morning where he told me the money was gone and he was going to ship it out this Friday anyway.

Am I out of line in my logic here or should he refund me my money? He lied to me about getting it shipped nearly two weeks ago and he still hasn't gotten it out.

I'm not going to name names, I have nothing against the guy, I just want my money back.

If I file a complaint with PayPal, will they get me my money back?

What does Rig-Talk think about this situation?

Thats not weird.....thats Bullshit!

If he didnt ship it...or couldnt....he shouldnt of told you he did only to come back with excuses.
I would be pissed and your not in the wrong since you done your part.
Payed for an item that was listed for sale!
What the hell is wrong with some of these people? :gethim:
Good luck on it and keep us posted!

I think you deserve you money back or the amp. He shouldn't have lied about shipping the amp, but I have suppliers do that to me every day. "No tracky, no shippy" :) IMO, if the seller can't ship the item in a reasonable time frame, they shouldn't have the item up for sale. At least the seller should have been honest about what was going on.

Never had to deal with Paypal, so can't help you there.

Immediate refund.

He said the amp was shipped. It wasn't.

Did you send it paypal gift? If so, you're at the mercy of the seller.

Edit; just read your post more closely.....you'd better hope you get the amp. Paypal isn't going to do shit for you if there's no money in the account.

Please pm me the name of the seller, so I know who to avoid like the plague

That's bull shit. I don't understand the need to lie about a shipping date.

Ding ding! We have a winner!

He lied. That is complete bullshit. He spent the money already but that is his fault not yours. You are being super cool about it. I hope you at least get the amp.

Money gone already = Loser in life.

Get your money back.

I think if you don't have a tracking number PMed to you by Saturday, you should drop a name. This is bullshit, and only hurts the forum as a whole. If you don't get a tracking number, you can at least warn the rest of the forum as to who we should not be dealing with.

I don't understand what is so hard about saying "Sorry, man...I have been getting killed lately and haven't had time to get the amp out." We're human and we all have shit to deal with - I'm busy too, and sometimes it takes a while to get an amp packed to withstand the "loving" and "gentle" "caress" of UPS. That shit is understandable.

What pisses me off is when you tell me that my shit is on the way when it's not.
You're not fooling anyone, and the more you jerk me around, the more likely I am to buy a plane ticket to come and claim the amp myself.

And I've seen me in person...you don't WANT to see me in person.

...

Not that I'm a hardass or anything, I'm just an awkward motherfucker. If I show up on your doorstep, I'll probably just hang out for WAY too long and watch your TV and make everyone very uncomfortable.

People are signing up just to use the classifieds section, and the blowback from that activity is a greater percentage of undesireables. Did you buy from a long timer?

Hope things work out for you.

Out the POS...even if this is made right he's nobody that I would want to do business with (I don't want to be the guy who he doesn't "make it right" for), and I've been doing a lot of it lately. Do the members here a service, please

This is a bad trend. We need some controls in place to discourage people from doing this. Like a minimum post count outside of the Classifieds section (similar to MTS forum, but make the minimum post count much higher than 10!)

post this bastard's name and write a detailed review in the feedback section to prevent others from dealing with him.

spent your money without shipping your amplifier and lied to you about it.

out this shitbag and get your money back.

If I were you I'd pray to get the amp, thats the best you can hope for
At this point who knows it it existed in the first place.

I agree with people you should post his name and write a detailed review in the feedback section to prevent others from dealing with him. Sure it is frustrating, but the worst is if he continues to do what he did to you to others.

Wow! Good luck with a guy that lies like that.

I had someone take over a month to ship me a guitar that I sent money for.
After many emails (I had his address and I was fed up and was about to call his local police) I finally got it.

Thanks for all the responses. He isn't a "new" member, I've seen him around for a decent time (I've been a lurker for some time now). He does say he is going to ship the amp out Friday but to be honest, I don't even want to deal with this whole thing at all anymore. I really just want to get my money back. I guess I should be content with receiving the amp though right? I didn't pay him via paypal gift so, I guess I'll place a complaint if I don't receive a tracking number in the next day or two.

Listen Mr "The Hoff".....................if the seller does not chime in with his side of the story he needs to be outed as many would not want to go through the same crap.

Regards,

Mr "Digital Jams"
