Has anybody here heard of Conrad amps? I hear of people using them in studios and stuff like that, supposed to have good clean and overdrive sounds at fairly useable volumes. Does anyone have any idea what they are voiced like? Other details or insight? Anybody own one?

this is too funny, Conrad Sundholm was one of the guys who started Sunn Amplifiers, he is pretty meticulous, top notch and builds his own cabinets and everything, it just so happens he is repairing an amplifier for me as I type this, he lives in Oregon, I have only played and heard one of his amps, the Velvet Hammer, and it is a killer little 1X12 combo, as a matter of fact I will be playing it this Saturday at our bar gig. here is a link to his web site

That sounds really cool. What is it voiced like? Gain level?

I can certainly echo the previous poster...
I took the first Sunn (Conrad built the preamp and the power was
I have some experience with Conrad's older tube gear but have played his new rigs and they voice incredible...I had a lowend Fender that sounded fabulous thriough the Blues Jamer...he just did unleash his new bass rig at Blues for MS show at the Aladdin Theater Portland Oregon...I know of 11 locals players that love his workmanship...and his geeked monocrys copper page on his site is a hoot to read...

Most of the local folk here have moved from whatever they were playing into a Conrad rig...a full rich tone that does not blowup the front of house engineers mix...

if you look at the amp with the vent hole on the far right is the early 200S rotated...

Conrad built a preamp tied into a Dynaco poweramp (a 60's HIFI rig) pushed the twin D-140's
with two KT-88's...when every one else was playing a DualShowman, my rig got a lot of attention...

I really respect the quality of Conrad's work.
The 200S I toured with in the midSixties still roars with authority when I light her up...my next guitar rig is one that he is adding a Leslie 6pin so that my 145 gets a direct feed ...one surfomatic, one wall of fuzz, one Leslie so I don't have to carry two amps plus the Leslie...

I have Blues Jammer # 9. I live in Portland,OR. I participate in the Music Scene where Conrad's work is Valued very highly. I am not a tech, yet I can tell you, the BJ's tone stack is a sonic marvel. I've never heard a better one.
You asked about voicing . can you say more about that? My BJ has a Ted Weber Blue Dog 12" . The sound if very full and round. Not overly Bright, or Spanky, or Icy, Over all, it's Smoooth, even, and balanced.
