To those who have been wondering what is going on with Cornford Amplification. Cornford amplifiers are still in production, and are available for USA shipping. Sadly, the Cornford RK100 has been discontinued.

The OEM manufacturer has requested that I do not release any information regarding our conversation. I can say that an official press release will be issued soon. Good things happening for sure!

Is this just to do with the us distribution or Cornford as a whole? I'm dying for them to make a high gain amplifier with El34's or 6L6's!

Actually, the MK50 is a 6L6 amp. The MK50H II and RK100 can be fitted with either EL34 or 6L6 power tubes. They are all high-gain amplifiers.

I was always under the impression they were in the hot rodded marshall ball park? I was meaning something a little more modern sounding gain wise. I believe the hellcat is fairly modern sounding but Im not a big fan of el84's.

See what you think - check out from 8:00 onwards:

No boost either :)

Any info to be shed about the relationship between Cornford amps and the Jet City Earhart that never made it past prototype stage?

Yea, Martin Kidd built two prototypes (one of which I own :D) and they were deemed too expensive to move forward so the idea was trashed. That's the chassis of my amp sitting to the left of the one pictured.

You . . . lucky . . . punk. I was in the process of getting one of the prototypes (actually getting finances in order lol) they were clearancing out for $1300 when they were all of a sudden gone. :(

Goddammit now I NEED an MK50II....
Be patient and hold onto your money. It won't be much longer now... :D

If you're set on getting a Cornford, the RK100 is by-far their most aggressive big-bottle design. The Hellcat is a Marshall-voiced circuit. It's a great amp, but it's cabinet dependent for bottom-end.

These were actually not prototypes... They were MK50H II amplifiers (w/singular effects loop) and a new blue wrapper. :)

Gut shots are similar but some amp gurus say they aren't the same amp. (edited)

(was it a joke and I didn't quite catch it?)
Was this the guy?

Based on what I heard, they didn't sound like the MK's...
The only difference is the lack of a secondary high-speed relay, but that will not change the tone of the amp. Cornford pine cabinets resonate quite differently from birch. A fair-and-balanced comparison would require that both heads are tested through the same cabinet, obviously in the same room. Are the Jet City cabinets made from birch or pine?
