Coronavirus and gear sales....

Hahaha, I wish - I just read that article. The dude already cashed out, I hope he doesn’t get audited because the government is gonna question the source of $70k hitting his bank account

Not that they likely give fucks...but it's illegal to gouge/profit in that manner during a State of Emergency...assuming that was in place at that time.

Years ago, a story of two dude that bought all the ice in a town that had been hit with a hurricane; under SOE. In an old parking lot or somewhere, gigging the shit out of people, a dispatched military unit rides up on them...refunds as much of the money as they can then makes them give the remaining ice away.

On topic... I've got some used gear sitting on CL and FB knowing full-well until this shit passes no one is buying it. Which is a bummer... it is what it is though.

Coronavirus aint gotta a damn thing to do with gear sales.

There will still be rich dummies willing to spend $4000 for a relic'ed partscaster. This much I know. Here's an idea for anyone worried about their gear not being able to sell...why don't you actually keep a piece of gear for more than a week, and spend more time playing instead of flipping gear? If you have owned that many amps and guitars, and can't find something to make you happy...your money would be better spent in lessons. Or maybe find another hobby.

You don't think the devastation of the stock market as a result of Coronavirus has anything to do with the slowing of sales? I don't see how it couldn't....

There isn’t an formal index. That’s why I posted this thread. To get a feel for how everyone thinks it’s affecting sales.

If you’re selling something and it’s not moving, that’s a pretty good indicator. I was interested to see what the general consensus is among the forum.

i got plans for stayin in, and it don't involve worrying, baby  ....or worrying about a baby ;)

I commented the other day that I'm expecting a large number of Christmas babies this year. Most of the people at the table didn't get it, but seriously what else are you going to do stuck at home, no sports, nowhere to go......people will be getting it on. I wish most of them thought ahead like you did.

The macabre joke I was going to follow with, until the original comment went past everyone, was that maybe we could replace losses. That'd probably be in bad taste though.....so pretty much on par for me.

Definitely, the uncertainty of the marketplace (not just stock market, but jobs due to lost work) is putting a damper on all kinds of spending. The market was already getting ready to take a downturn before the pandemic, but that arguably would have just been an adjustment as the markets had outpaced the economy.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but as the climate of the economy has been a rapidly changing dynamic over the last week, I think you're going to see more and more items added to the classifieds. Not due to gear flipping but out of necessity to do what needs to be done to stay afloat.

What I mean is during this shit I just don't think it`s here nor there as far musical equipment. If someone has the cash and wants something they`ll buy regardless of corona. Although you could drink so much corona that your gear fund would dwindle, then corona could effect gear sales.

To anyone who thinks the outbreak hasn't effected sales, you are greatly misinformed. Supermarkets are probably the only ones selling mass Quantities of anything and even they are on jeopardy because of lack of merch.

No one gives a shit about dropping that kind of money now. The bottom is falling out and we are nose diving into a recession. The country is halted and we are all in a bad place right now. No work, no money.

Unpressedented territory.
Personally, I am becoming more and more convinced that this is a biological attack. Just my opinion.

Gear??? Who gives a fuck about that when food is scarce.
Your kidding me right?

I'm the very last person to dream up conspiracy theories, but I do agree that this could very well be a biological warfare attack. We've placed economic sanctions on Russia, Iran, a trade war and tariffs with China that have all seen their economies dwindle. It would not take much to disrupt our economy with a pandemic such as this. It creates discord among the people, civil unrest, and collapse of a nation. Warfare has evolved to being just on the battlefield.

Hey 12,000 deaths confirmed and up to as high as 30,000 deaths in the US alone from type a1 flu between Oct 2019 -Jan 2020. Also what happened to west nile virus? These fuckers are turning the screws.

At the rate this is escalating I wouldn't be surprised if Trump got assassinated. The powers at be are up to no good on this one.

A Baby Boomer bulge?

And it would suck if anyone had to sell an amp or a guitar to pay the bills. Hope no one here has to deal with that. Not even Krull if he has gear too.

I just picked-up a smoking 2018 Gibson Wildwood Spec R7 in Antique Pelham Blue for a killer price. The Wildwood Spec Gibson A3 Custom Buckers are the best I've ever played. I wish Gibson would sell them individually. I don't generally spend much time on the neck pup, but I do now.

I play through a VOX AC15 and Marshall (Canada version) 2554 SJ, both of which seem to favor underwound HB and SC pickups.

This is the actual guitar that I purchased.
