I'm going through the same thought process right now. Not so much a trade, but I've been considering selling my Quick Rod and Mark IV to get a Kemper or AFII. I love my amps but I have limited space and have to admit that either of the "robot" solutions would work better for me. It's hard to give up the amps but I think in the end, it would be more practical. I have 2 4x12s in a small room that doubles as an office and play room. I could just run a small rack and a pair of 1x12s. If I didn't dread the task of boxing and shipping, I'd probably have done it already.
I think if you don't gig, have limited time and want a versatile box with tons of sounds and can be used to record direct, it's easy. Kemper/Axe is the way to go. We just have to fight the inertia of our routine and make the hardest step which is to accept change.
Yeah you can always save up for an AFII but why have a Mark V sitting there doing nothing? You could always sell the simulator and find another Mark V I would think.
