Creamback 65M Reissues

I have a Diezel 2x12 that has a Creamback 65M reish and a Vintage 30. Great mix between the two.

I had them and didn't like them one bit.

It was as if the mids on the amp were dialed up way too high, very abrasive.

Dialing down the mids on the amp didn't help either.

I tried them in open and closed back 2x12's and 4x12, same story in all of them.

They are marketed as a heavy duty G12M-25 but I haven't been able to find any similarities whatsoever.

I bought a reissue Celestion 12-G-65 for my 1x12 combo and I was surprised how much I liked it, it was the original higher wattage Greenback per-se and right out of the box it had no harshness that I have heard from regular greenbacks even the famed 6402 reissue Celestions.

I have also been surprised at the Warehouse guitars ET65's, they sound really good once broken in and can reproduce some nice lowend if needed. I have had some ET65's that I needed to break in with a variac and others that sounded great right out of the box so YMMV.

Sorry I have not played the Creamback but Dave Friedman did speak highly of the speaker if I remember correctly and he seems to have good ears.

I've got a 4x12 with them .. They sound great but then I got a 4x12 with V30's and I like that better!! Both have been played at med to low volume most the time so I don know if they're even properly broke in.. Which leads me to... I just read over on Dave Friedmans page that he recommends laying the cabs flat on there face record a riff into a looper and play the loop at a reasonable high volume for three hours or so.. I will be doing this soon see if it makes a difference in both cabs....

Weird. I was thinking about M & H Creambacks for my Bogner 2 X 12 last week, but went on a pedal buying spree instead!

Geuss I have to stick with the Scumbacks in there right now. First world problems right?

I like the H Creamback. The cone is aggressive and mid-heavy; the H magnet does two things: it balances out the EQ and makes the speaker sound more consistent throughout the volume range. M speakers, especially true-to-vintage-spec ones, often don't come alive without moving some air.

This is a reason the V30 has been so very popular for so long even with it's well-known shortcomings: it sounds very consistent throughout the volume range.

And for the record, my go-to speakers are Scumback M75s.

Crazy talk.

Aint no such thing as a "reissue" creamback.... there's G12H-75 Creamback and G12M-65 Creamback. They are definitely not reissues of greenback, blackback or creambacks. It's a new speaker design with some of the same qualities but with much more output.

Personally I think they are the best speakers ever made by Celestion. I'v got h-75's and m-65's in an X pattern in my 4x12.

G12-65 Heritage is a completely different speaker. Very nice for ACDC etc.. smooth speaker. Like it allot with my 2203 JMP. Not so much with my Wizards.

Somehow people always mix up:

G12-65 with G12M-65.. freaking annoying.

Exactly!
I was just going to write that they are not reissues, but high powered versions of the M and H speakers,
I have the M's and love 'em.

They're great at all volumes

How would they compare to a quad of scumback old blue m65 25 waters?
I use the 65w version and love them. I'd assume the 25w will break up a little sooner.
