Same here in Minnesomalia. The only time I saw a driver get out of the truck was when the arm malfunctioned and my garbage can was stuck in the truck.

There is another service here that has guys on the back like it should be but I don't think they come down my street. My garbage service is pretty good though. I was able to throw away most of a single wide trailer into the can and they hauled it.

I've thrown a lot of stuff in the trash I probably shouldn't have. One thing I will never throw in the trash is a car battery.

My trash guy ( white by the way) has a lift mechanism on the back of the truck. He has to wheel the cans to the back and then use the forks to lift them. In urban areas here it’s like yours. The fork comes off the truck to either side and picks the cans up and sets them back down.
