Johnson modeling amps. This little Johnson marquis jm60 is stupid good. I’m shocked by how fucking good it sounds. How did they go out of business? Any info on the company or anyone play them? I seriously love this amp…so much fun…

i remember Scott Grove talking about them quite a bit

I don't have any personal experience with them, but I vaguely remember reliability being an issue with them

Steavens Poundcake, Peters, Aiken, all what I would describe as criminally underrated

Generally speaking the SS and modeling hidden gems are no longer hidden cuz word got out on them

I got the johnson 120 a few years ago for next to nothing but sold it. At the end of the day it was just too digital sounding…ymmv

JCM900 MkIII, the one they made before the SL-X. Overlooked because there aren't as many around as SL-X. They have a similar level of gain and are much clearer and more defined, more gain than the Dual Reverb. People complained about them using clipping diodes, but so does the Jubilee. Mine will hang with my Helios and Jose, although not quite on the same level. Like an 800, gotta get the power tubes working.

Line 6 pretty much has he monopoly on the early modeling amps. I had their second revision of the Ax2 212.

The first was the AxSys 212.
