"Curt Anderson, also known as Chubtone on some forums full of gear snobs and wannabe rock stars is the kind of player we have seen routinely ignored (this is no longer the case now!) , while wheedley wheedling away at the NAMM show since the early 80's. And by the looks of the guy and his rapidly growing ego, he was probably at those early NAMM shows. He has more experience in guitar theory than a catholic church has in childcare units. This release was recorded in his home studio and sounds like he has a massive one, featuring fantastic, amazing, invigorating and extremely technical while retaining feel type of playing, leaving others on the forum clueless as to their own arrangements, brain dead engineering and sounds like it was mixed by, well this is top secret, but you understand.

His playing, while deeply influenced by anybody who is somebody, features a rhythm tone that will put most metronome makers out of business, a vibrato that sounds like Stevie Nicks having her wildest orgasm, and a creativity level seldom seen outside of this universe.

Players like Satriani, George Lynch and Warren DeMartini come over just to make him tea and try to pick up on any details. What comes to mind when you think of players that can really play their instrument you think of Curt.

If we had anything good to say about this Chubtone character it is that for a guy with his looks and technical style the only reason he should not have fame and fortune is he must be a real dick to deal with. :D (Actually one of the best guys on the forum).

His CD gets more play than most anything in my rotation. Between Curt, Pete Thorn, Justin Derrico and Steve Stevens I usually either want to quit or practice my ass off.

Thanks Curt for being so awesome and hanging here with those of us who dream of doing the things you do.

You dream of cutting the grass, building barbecue islands, tiling bathrooms, picking up dog poop and wondering how long your in laws will be staying this time? ;)

I hope you are referring to the younger, hotter Stevie Nicks and not the current, post-menopausal, buffet abusing Stevie Nicks

She probably should have asked where your many leatherbound books are and why your office doesn't smell of rich mahogany...

Steve

My office does not smell of rich mahogany because I prefer alder and maple.

Spoken like a true Charvel lover.

BTW, went to Hollingshead without you yesterday. Had a nice Smoked Porter that you would have loved. They have a Stout at 19% on tap over there right now. :rawk:

Knut,
Thanks for the link. That is pretty cool! I see Satriani, George Lynch and Warren DeMartini mentioned in the review. I am going to translate it really quick:

"Curt Anderson, also known as Chubtone on some forums full of gear nerds is the kind of player we have seen routinely ignored, while wheedley wheedling away at the NAMM show since the early 80's. And by the looks of the guy and his rapidly receding hairline, he was probably at those early NAMM shows. This release was recorded in his home studio and sounds like it, featuring lackluster playing, clueless arrangements, brain dead engineering and sounds like it was mixed by Helen Keller. His playing, while deeply influenced by no one worth listening to, features a rhythm tone that is excruciatingly crappy as confirmed by Gainzilla :), a vibrato that sounds like Stevie Nicks singing while strangling a lamb, and a creativity level seldom seen outside the finger-painting class at the local kindergarten. Players like Satriani, George Lynch and Warren DeMartini come to mind when you think of players that can really play their instrument. Please put them out of your mind before listening to this stinker. If we had anything good to say about this Chubtone character it is that for a fat guy, he doesn't sweat much."

All in all, I'd day that it's a pretty accurate review, but I am NOT fat.

Best translation ever :D

I was actually listening to your CD on the way to the amp show....you know....just to remind myself I shouldn't really be playing in front of people

Right on, I translated it with a Swedish Death Metal guy and it basically said everything you thought Curt!

If your wife wants you to mow the grass then lift the skirt and get to work :hys:

seriously, that is cool and you play great stuff and should be in a magazine.

But you do still wear "Sex Panther", right? It's the smell of desire.

very cool, congrats!
But they forgot to mention your Chicago vibrato, on par with the prestigious Frigo heritage it hails from
