I had a late 70s Hiwatt for a while in the late 90s, it was my first tube amp. It sounded awesome but for some reason it ate tubes and blew fuses regularly. The tech guys thought it was just the lower quality modern tubes, but I suspect something was wrong. Traded it in for the Mesa Mark IIC+ that I still have.
