This has kind of been beaten to death, but, unless you have a huge wad of cash to sit on for a long time, since they rarely go up for sale, I wouldn't really plan on acquiring one

What happened? They took too many orders, also the owner was nuts. He could have just said "I fucked up" or allowed someone else to take over, instead he strung everyone along for a year. I can't say for sure that he hasn't done any amp work since. However, he has another career. The amp stuff seemed to be a hobby, which then became work that he didn't want to do

hi benduncan, thanks for taking me on Dar amps... just a matter of principles did anyone got ripped off being putting on hold ? its such a waste seeing Dar amps taking the road... and perhaps his secret recipe is noy revealed on the tone he created...

haiz...heard of tapp amp? its kind of cool too like the tone of it...

I believe there are still several people who haven't had their deposits refunded. I put down a deposit on a DAR preamp pedal and luckily was able to get my deposit back. This was back in 2011.

Tapp amps sounds awesome. It's too bad he is not selling his amps.

Not sure why he decided to quit. I think he is a brilliant madman whom created a monster, one he may not have wanted to build day after day after week after month after year. The build process was very complex and time consuming, with lots of micro solder circuitry. I am willing to bet he would rather build a new project, perfect it, then move on to something else. Most super smart people don't deal with tedium well, they seek new challenges. That's just my take on the guy.

I do wish there were more of these amps out there. They are amazing. Nothing else has the feel of the DAR power section. The gate on the FBM is the best I have ever had, and the sweepable mids are like an old neve console.

I recently picked up a DAR FBM cabinet, it's an amazing piece of work, can't imagine what one of the heads would be like on top of this cab.

From what I could find is that the builds were very intensive and expensive, he was likely under charging for the amps, one source I spoke to said one head from start to finish took about 40 days to make(FBM). I heard he refunded most if not all of everyone(just what I heard, I do not know the facts). For now there's only a handful of his heads out there and if/when they go for sale they bring serious $. I'm always keeping my eye open for an FBM head!

I just bought a dar fbm100 and I want to sell it to the highest bidder
