In my opinion, 2k seems like a great deal for both of you. You more than double your money, and get to be a good guy doing something decent. He gets his baby back without breaking his balls to badly. Nothing but good thoughts going to both of you from me. V/R, Martin.

I do not know whether duder received any comp from UPS so I must ask... Why should Duder have to pay one red cent to get back an amp he already "owns"?

If he was paid out by UPS there is a discussion to be had. Dwight shouldnt have to lose any money, but why should he make any money? If not there is still a discussion to be had but it is a far different discussion, UPS should be footing the bill here, not Duder, not Dwight.

I would find out how much he was compensated and take it from there. If he's been properly compensated then that makes it much more complex. Even then who's to say what this head is really worth? Ive never even seen one in person, so I would be relunctant to spend a ton of $ on it. And I have the matching DAR FBM 100 cabinet sitting in my hobby room.

You had no knowledge of the history of the item you bought fully legal. So in my opinion just keep it or sell it. But for the hundreds of pieces of gear I bought....I have no idea if any of it was hot or not. I don't see you in the wrong at all.

I am not saying you did anything wrong and I wouldn't have done anything differently in buying the amp or trying to sell it, not like you knew it was duders at that time. I'm saying you deserve your money back and Duder deserves his amp back. Where I differ from the above posts is that I don't believe anyone has the right or privilege to profit from another's misfortune...

Assume you were a native american and the government gave you some compensation for land they took, land that you didn't want to and had no intention of selling to begin with. A third party shows up later claiming they bought the land from the government fair and square. That person found out you were the original owner and wants to get you back on the land that was unjustly taken from you, so they want to sell the land back to you. Remember this is land that, regardless of compensation, was taken unjustly to begin with. You also find out that this third party is trying to sell your land back to you for more than they paid, and act as though they are doing you a favor because at least you are getting your land back. How would you feel about that?

This was mentioned in an above post. Cargo Largo most likely buys bulk lost items at auction from places like UPS FedEx etc. Many items go right to their store, others go to their ebay.

If UPS has it to sell to Cargo Largo why not just give it the the correct recipient once it's found? Seems fishy.

Not sure why he decided to quit. I think he is a brilliant madman whom created a monster, one he may not have wanted to build day after day after week after month after year. The build process was very complex and time consuming, with lots of micro solder circuitry. I am willing to bet he would rather build a new project, perfect it, then move on to something else. Most super smart people don't deal with tedium well, they seek new challenges. That's just my take on the guy.

I do wish there were more of these amps out there. They are amazing. Nothing else has the feel of the DAR power section. The gate on the FBM is the best I have ever had, and the sweepable mids are like an old neve console.

An EE buddy of mine is exactly like that...he'll build an amp once, then it's up to somebody else to reproduce it.
Apparently it works...he's currently a consultant to many amp manufacturers and was a Mesa engineer back in the early days of the company.

Duder says he was paid a fraction of its insured value because of a loophole in the legal speak of the contract. He says he was paid not much more than dwight$ bought it for.

Again, IMO, dwight$ has the amp fair and square. Though we would like to see duder get his baby back (I would loose my mind too if I lost mine), dwight$ can do whatever he wants with it legally.

My main concern is how UPS loses a box of this size and weight. The thing weights like 80lbs. Best to probably not use UPS if you do decide to sell and ship as it may go back to Cargo Largo's warehouse for further processing.

Yeah, right?! I am so scared my DARs will get jacked I don't move them around much, am always worried when I buy one and have to have it shipped, and don't keep them all in the same place for fear of....um....TBH, my girlfriend burning the place down. She is pretty haphazard with electrical outlets.

Dwight$ is cutting a great deal to get the amp back in diezelduders hands. Since duder is cash tight right now, I will buy it and get it to duder when he gets caught up. Dwight$ coulda got waaaay more for the amp than he is charging. Waaaaay more.
