Seeking DAR FBM

Yup, I want one of these rare ticking time bombs. I’ve made over 100 tone packs on Kemper and Neural each but the DAR still eludes me.

I just found a Forza Quattro that’s on the way via UPS… so now I want to take a serious stab at getting the FBM and complete the hunt.

You’ll be helping get the rare tone in the hands of many whose these and future modeling platforms so let’s do Chris/AmpGuru and the guitar community as a whole a solid and make this happen.

No im not paying 10-13k for one. But let’s get a realistic price as the last 2 I’ve heard of selling were for 6500 (one having an issue).

Again, one I was just made aware of went for 6500. I know someone trying to sell 1 that has supposedly 8k offers. No one’s out there paying 13k for DARs so people can get that pricing out of their squirmy little butt holes.

I have one and not selling, and certainly not selling to profilers, but @Beyond Black is right -- if I was selling, $6500 would be a good first payment. And I don't think there's more than 5 other working ones out there currently.

Unless it sucks dick I’d keep it. Despite what people assume unlike most profilers I actually own and have 35 not cheap amps yes, I turn and burn some but I also collect.

As I mentioned, I just heard of one going for $6500. Yehuda bought the broken one for $6500 he flipped and “omitted” / lied on info.

I’ve talked to someone that claims they have outstanding $8k offers if/when they want to sell but there is no proof to that. I would come up to $8k potentially if it is in full working order clean bill of health. But reality is all of them come across as ticking time bombs and no techs probably looked inside them since they left the factory initially.

It’s a rare amp, I get it. I own literal true 1 offs and haven’t even spent more than 5k for them. $6500 for maybe blows up and does forever amp is not unreasonable to offer. I’m willing to go higher if it reasonably makes sense. 13-20k is not reasonable. I’ll just go get another one off build from a reputable company commissioned at that point.

I get the 4 dudes with them want 5-7x what they paid for them like it’s a MARK IC++ but sadly Metallica never recorded with them. Neither did the actual band it was made for

Yours isn’t for sale and you want to hype inflate the price. I get it. Some one some day may need to sell theirs though for a still unreasonable but slightly more reasonable price. That’s why I made the post to throw this out there and see where it goes.

I'm not an amp flipper, I don't care about the price -- mine is Japan voltage and will likely never leave Japan, both for that reason and for fear of it being damaged in transport. If I was going to give it to anyone I'd sell it to my friend Sam who was involved in the whole DAR business and got totally shafted by them, and was out probably 5-6 amps worth of money. He's probably the most deserving person to own an FBM in the world and I think he's already outbid you by a good margin. If anyone in the UK winds up with one, hit me up, would be good to see him get one.

But I'll probably release a free profile of the whole amp within the next 12 months or so though so people who want to experience can get pretty close to it. The only I really agree with you on is that I do also view the amp as a timebomb, and it would be good to capture it faithfully before it dies. That said me and the original owner totally baby it so hopefully it'll last a bit longer than these other ones.

Well it is happening . I’m not being a dick . But $6500 is probably not going to make someone sell you one when this is actually happening

market dictates cost. No one has jumped in here as a serious counter buyer saying “I have X cash in hand fuck that guy sell to me”. I am very well aware of two in the last year selling for $6500. One of those 2 got flipped for $8k because someone wanted it bad enough.

I’ve also acknowledge a current seller of one has relayed their highest offer is $8k. As small as the DAR FBM owner pool is I’m thinking the buyer pool cash in hand willing to take the risk on one is also very small.

Wow I’m fashionably late to this thread. Hi, it’s the insane plain stupid lucky man with the fuck it money. @peterc52 I’ve always respected you so I take your statement as a compliment. I did in fact spend 13k on the amp. Customs fees are another story I know majority of the owners, & people who have previously owned them.. This is a ticking timebomb & not something you purchase if you’re worried about cash or serviceability my man… I know the current seller on reverb as well. That is not a fully spec’d FBM hence the price. Going rate tends to be around the 10k mark. I’ll gladly burn another 10k on one that is fully spec’d. It will still do the trick unless it’s a modded unit. Not all the FBMs are built the same fyi. I saw your channel & see the angle you are working. To each their own but I can’t support the idea of modeling it or making money off Mike’s creations unless everything is 100% matched. In the beginning I figured I’d partner with an amp builder to reverse engineer the unit & get it into more people hands. @diezelduder & @rottingcorpse would be the first to get one free of charge. Living by KSR & Sweetwater the idea has some hope. Unfortunately I learned about specific chips Mike burned for the build which apparently nobody will be able to reverse engineer. I still haven’t lost complete hope. @rottingcorpse one of Mike’s close friends taught me all about this + you better have the signal chain & proof if you want to genuinely capture the tone in the Ola video if that’s what you’re trying to market off of. Thats what everyone is after anyways right.. From the guitar to the cabs & mics.. Short of the RGD2120 I own the signal chain & the profilers as well. If I was to profile it then I would offer it for free to the masses before I would treat such a thing as a cash grab. At a bare minimum I’d atleast offer the RT community a free download. Just my opinion but then again I’m wired different just like an FBM. Good luck man, & “I’m not being a dick” as my great friend @Techdeth would say.
