It sure is … not seeing it sold quickly for that 13k ball park. I’m still confident few people are as dumb and crazy as me to throw any money at a breaking DAR nowadays. 7k is my top end for THIS specific DAR. A working one with 0 issues. I’d pay probably 9k at this point with a guarantee if it broke in a week of intense profiling to stress test it I can return it. After that fully my problem.

Reality is no one liked it or listened to me at the time but that specific serial 6/Ben DAR or whatever… I later met the previous owner. He sold it to Yehuda for around 6k with the full knowledge the tube indicator light was going off. Which some how it’s reposted again and still not mentioned by another person trying to flip it for insane dumb money… I’ve also heard the current owner has spoke to people about it having power amp issues like my DAR Forza I have sitting on my floor here that no one’s taken on to repair with the power amp volume cutting in and out. Luckily I’m into that for like $2500 though and slave it as a preamp when it acts up.

So Daylight Dies always seem to have some misinformation around it. A good long time friend of mine was friends with the dudes in KSE and did tech work for them long long ago. He owns their Framus Dragon that was used on all of End of Heartache that we profiled. Still hasn’t to this day and there’s been past confusion/drama from Joel not remembering or realizing when the Dragon used on EoH blew up and was brought to the tech, other Joel, that he swapped his personal Dragon with KSE’s to get them back up and running quick for tour. Then years later when Joel sold his current dragon everyone assumed it was the EoH one. But it’s not. And has passed through a few owners hands at this point I have tried correcting. The other part of EoH was the 5150 Adam D bought off Phil from All That Remains years and years ago. Then it wound up on like every major metal release through Zing Studios.

The same tech owned a VH4 he loaned to them for recording Daylight Dies shortly after because they used and loved the tone Joel bought his own VH4. It’s a great layering amp. The majority of tones on there is a mix of the Modded SLO Joel picked up previously owed by George Lynch, the VH4, and Splawns. Which I believe the Splawns were later stolen from a storage space for their gear/practice they never really publicly talked about.

After that they used on the self title Laneys when recording. They’ve always just used whatever is on hand to get their sound. Admittedly the Cobra Adam D had said made a return on one of the tracks but the amp was sent off for mastering/mixing and came back with things changed. So possibly other amps were used aside from what they tracked with. They tracked an album at home using a stock 5150 Kemper profile and one of the AmpGuru made Dragon ones that they also toured with. Not sure if they ever swapped to something else at some point later on.

Also the first ferret record I think was the same tech/friends Soldano hot rod or maybe they got ahold of a different one… been awhile since I discussed that.

Alive or just breathing is basically the triple Recto 3 channel that’s prob a rev C Joel’s bought when they had just came out.
