Wow I’m fashionably late to this thread. Hi, it’s the insane plain stupid lucky man with the fuck it money. @peterc52 I’ve always respected you so I take your statement as a compliment. I did in fact spend 13k on the amp. Customs fees are another story I know majority of the owners, & people who have previously owned them.. This is a ticking timebomb & not something you purchase if you’re worried about cash or serviceability my man… I know the current seller on reverb as well. That is not a fully spec’d FBM hence the price. Going rate tends to be around the 10k mark. I’ll gladly burn another 10k on one that is fully spec’d. It will still do the trick unless it’s a modded unit. Not all the FBMs are built the same fyi. I saw your channel & see the angle you are working. To each their own but I can’t support the idea of modeling it or making money off Mike’s creations unless everything is 100% matched. In the beginning I figured I’d partner with an amp builder to reverse engineer the unit & get it into more people hands. @diezelduder & @rottingcorpse would be the first to get one free of charge. Living by KSR & Sweetwater the idea has some hope. Unfortunately I learned about specific chips Mike burned for the build which apparently nobody will be able to reverse engineer. I still haven’t lost complete hope. @rottingcorpse one of Mike’s close friends taught me all about this + you better have the signal chain & proof if you want to genuinely capture the tone in the Ola video if that’s what you’re trying to market off of. Thats what everyone is after anyways right.. From the guitar to the cabs & mics.. Short of the RGD2120 I own the signal chain & the profilers as well. If I was to profile it then I would offer it for free to the masses before I would treat such a thing as a cash grab. At a bare minimum I’d atleast offer the RT community a free download. Just my opinion but then again I’m wired different just like an FBM. Good luck man, & “I’m not being a dick” as my great friend @Techdeth would say.

Plenty of people have issues with modeling. Plenty of people do not. It’s more polarizing it seems at times than the fucking Epstein files.

I have builders that are super cool with the stuff I do. I’ve bought their gear direct to profile and plug or had custom gear made for me. I have a very small amount of builders that have cried about it and I just sell their gear and stop using it. So small… it’s 1. 1 complained. Easy enough to deal with. However if a builder is gone and their work isn’t something readily available I see no issue with people recreating it digitally. If anything they should be happy it’s still desired and has a way to live on. If they want the money they should get off their ass and make some gear.

If I myself am paying 6k, 8k, 10k, 13k etc it’s not going to be free. I’m never going to even make that money back LOL. It’s not a cash grab. Very very few amps I have bought on their own turned profitable from the initial investment. $30 a pack adds up but not fast enough on these $4-8k amps

Now if someone wants to loan me a FBM I’ll absolutely profile it and put it out to the masses for free. It’s legit stupid easy big swing free advertising homie. I wouldn’t care who community someone does or doesn’t belong to.

Being a dip shit with wads of cash to burn or not doesn’t make the purchase in realistic or a horrible idea I will add. We are all guilty of over paying for things but that doesn’t rest the market value after 1 buy. Someone got a FBM right after you for half because they didn’t have a silly reaction to over pay an import off reverb. They just did the hunting around for someone with one. And the one that sold before yours was even flipped for more but still wasn’t close to that. Market value on condition still minus one anomaly you caused is 6-8k depending on version/mods/condition. If you want to buy the last few working ones at 10-13k and then set the look as the seller feel free to. That doesn’t mean the value is truly that. It just means some jack ass bought something out and reset the floor price to access. That’s like saying Taylor Swift tickets were really worth what they are … just because sellers price gauged and sucker buyers threw money. If no one threw their wallets for no reason then the inventory sits and is either water or price comes down. It’s like post Covid no one remembers how economics used to work and just falls for shit over and over again. *points at old Mesa pricing for emphasis*

As for the captures Ola blah blah blah I have a Forza Quatro… the more expensive loaded model … that I’m into for $2500 after being discounted for some repair issues. Because I guess didn’t have to pay the FBM LOL MESHUGGAH tax on it. Sounds sick, pissed, with a boost scratches that meshuggah itch just fine. People have bought them and love the tone. No one’s messaged me “HEY THIS ISN’T OLA”. It’s DIs of the amp and I’m known for getting very excellent quality captures of amps that are true to their sound and feel compared to many others.

Side note, I’d love to know these different FBM versions and mods. I only know of the 1 that was made with less gain and when that guy (knowingly) sold it to Yehuda with power amp/tube issues … well he entirely left out the indicators for tube failure were coming on and when caught it was the one with less gain (so more like a Forza Quatro lead) he refused to update info and not tell people the serial until it built up too much and couldn’t be ignored. Ya though… that’s the 1 FBM that’s “not” a true FBM I’ve heard of.

Borrowing one for that intent is a whole different conversation so thanks for clarifying.. Someone needs to make profiles lol. Easier than building amps + there’s a market that truly appreciates it. Also it does take some work to make/sell them so if that’s your niche run with it. What doesn’t add up regarding price is I know several people who sold & purchased these FBMs. Every single one was able to fetch 9-10k for them on average. If someone lucked out on a deal & scooped one up for 6k more power to them!!!! That’s freakin awesome. Seems more like the 1 off price imo.. It’s also how you’re valuing it in your head because it appeases your interest & desire. So you’ve made yourself believe you can fetch one for the same deal. That’s more illogical than saying the amp is probably worth somewhere around 10k because that’s what almost a dozen transactions have averaged throughout the years, & people have the receipts to prove it. Also you’re talking to some owners right here that are giving you first hand info.. Why fight it? At the end of the day anything rare & limited is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Simple as that. In my situation I didn’t really flinch at the price homie I understand that people want things but in this league you either do it or you don’t.. There’s not a lot of haggling, persuading, or down talking going on.. Much like buying an OG blueface VH4 lol shit that thing is worth more than an FBM. I was just talking to Yehuda yesterday about his. If I keep it I originally bought the FBM for 1 purpose & it only needed to survive 1 day Even if it crapped out after that I wouldn’t of bitched lmao. A great friend of mine who’s like a brother to me talked about it for years. I didn’t even know wtf it was, shit just looked crazy.. He dubbed it his “Holy Grail” & thought he’d never have the opportunity to play one. So I said fuck it, bought it, unveiled it to him, & made one of his dreams come true. His reaction far outweighed the price & since it still works flawlessly (for now) he has access to it & can borrow it anytime.. That’s how I wound up with it. Congrats on your Forza btw, that thing is a beast!!! I hope you enjoy it, & cherish it.. If you knew the full story behind these amps maybe we would see eye to eye a lil more… However it takes all kinds to make this world.. You do you I know you’re on a mission, if you wait it out it might happen for the price you want. Regardless I wish you luck, & success along your venture.

I mean I just sounds like there’s a lack of transparent pricing out there. 1 person I’ve heard of getting their semi recent purchase was around $6k and might not keep it forever. Do I doubt they will list it at $10k of people are saying to ? No. I just don’t see any other buyers lining up. As we know, there’s the one on Reverb in Canada and no ones offered him 10k. So where’s that buyer . I’m starting at 6k. Would go to 8k for a fully working documented one.

I own legit one off amp creations from holy grail builders out there. None of them cost 10-13k … have major reliability/ repair issues… or were based tonally on guys trying to sound like a line 6 pod at the time lmao. Unless you count my 2 Fortin Meshuggahs but those sound like sick simple Jose modded amps with the NOS mojo.

I’m fairly familiar with DAR overall and have heard stories others probably haven’t long ago lol. An artist that had one of them originally I went to high school with and wound up living minutes down the road from. Had no clue he had the DAR until after he traded it for a recto rev C and a few grand worried it would blow up and couldn’t be repaired. Only reason he was worried was from chatting directly with the creator that he no longer was capable of building new or maintaining existing amps. So I always stayed away until I profiled like 100 amps and ran out of grails to hunt/throw cash at for the challenge of it.

If I was offered a FBM to profile I’d make the profiles free 100%. I was originally offered a deal to profile the one Yehuda had and he asked for a percent of my fucking business … absolutely wasn’t happening. He also wanted the cash he paid for it plus one of my holy grail one off amps which wasn’t happening. The all are valued infinitely higher to me than a DAR FBM.

The Quatro Forza I stumbled into off a reverb listing for 4500 and it came with issues not advertised (shocking). So either the seller knew or UPS roughed it up. Either is highly possible just grabbing one of these. After the payout with Reverb I’m into it for 2500 and only turn it on to profile. If it over heats the preamp goes silent then comes and goes. Since the FBM is the Forza lead channel x3 in varying gain levels tweaked to be more of the POD tone they were using… I feel pretty good about the Forza. The rhythm channel on it boosted or even straight up with the gain cranked is killer.

That’s cool you bought the FBM and locked it in for your friend. I don’t have a single one I care that much about to risk that level of cash on a purchase but I have always loved sourcing and sharing gear with local gear friends. If I had the means and didn’t care at all about cash I’d totally pay whatever to get a lot of amps and guitars but I gotta live in reality and run a side business with the gear investments.

The blueface is another clearly overvalued item… Adam Jones only needs so many. If one of his explodes then maybe someone asking the dumb money will get lucky for an OG. the reissues being more money is absolutely stupid it’s just fucking blue.

Thats what the OG guitar heads always told me. Won’t bore anyone with the details but we really had no clue until we plugged in.. Sent goosebumps across the room.. Hairs stood up like a bunch of cats getting ready to scrap. All I can say is it’s truly something special & gave me an entirely different perspective on amp design.. The FBM was too far ahead of its time.. Wish more ppl could experience the analog unit because it’s something a modeler just can’t replicate.. Sadly .. More than just a tone beast. There’s a distinct feel/response that maybe Ancient Aliens could explain.. lol & the tone shaping capabilities are radically different than your standard amp EQ.. Haven’t tried the 2c++ I’ve heard great things from @Brandon Breeze about it tho. I will say that @Techdeth gave me the opportunity to try his Larry, & man that thing is top tier as well. Totally understand why. I’m overdue & owe that man a jam session with the DAR, that will be coming up here soon. Regardless it sounds like @narad will have some free profile packs coming up, & I may as well join him so people can at least enjoy the tone aspect of the FBM. It does sound sweet through an OG 1985 Marshall 1960B cab. @OldGtrGuy if you’re ever in the OH area come by for a jam session with @Techdeth & I. I think you’d like a Forza Quatro even more! A low price of $15k! Amazing clean, killer crunch, fantastic rhythm, and the lead is what the FBM is based on and tweaked to sound more like a line 6 recto.

The lights flash all the colors of the rainbow how it’s set up right now. The gate I’m sure is there but I never care for or trust the on board gates for amps besides the KK JCM

I think I have fresh bottles from clients of Johnny Walker Blue and Black I never opened sitting in my basement bar. That could get cracked open in celebration of your new second DAR.
