Decimator in the loop?

I’ve never used a noise gate of any kind in the loop, but plan to try it out in the Fryette PS2 I’ll be using with a KHE amp switcher. My question is, where do I put it in the chain?

I will have an MXR 10 band EQ and a Line 6 Echo Park that I use for VERY subtle ducking delay in the loop. What order should the pedals be in?

Recently got a new ibanez noise gate with a loop ( 4 inputs) and have set it up with gain pedals in the loop of the gate and i really like this method. Have always been a gate in/ out guy but this keeps the trails from chorus, flange , and echoplex delay intact. 4 cable is the way. ( not in the loop of the amp, pedals in the loop of the gate)

Curious what didn’t work for you?

It isn’t a deal breaker for amp hum/ hiss isn’t crazy loud, I’d just like it to be lessened or removed if possible.

Won’t be doing 4CM.

I’ve heard good things about the Zuul, but I also read that it didn’t work great in the PS2 loop, so I’m looking for any suggestions available from people with experience.

I've actually done one in the loop and one up front because my house is 125 years old with very dirty electric. It works fine. If the EQ you're using is noisy, you might want to put it after that but don't do it after the delay as it will probably kill the effect.

Not sure how it'll work out on your PS2 in conjunction with the amp switcher. I've never tried my PS100 that way. Only way to know is try.

I do have an OG Decimator that I've tried in the loop of a couple amps. It worked well enough. I also have a Decimator Pro rack G; the one where one channel is for out front and the other for the loop. That works pretty well too. Though I find most of the noise & hiss gets knocked down by a noise gate out front. I rarely need to put one in the loop.

Yeah, The MXR 10 band has been my favorite for years. There's maybe a little hiss, but nothing really bad. I do have a Source Audio EQ that I'm giving a go

I have tried two seperate Decimators (1 up front and 1 in loop) as well as with Boss NS-2 and found the results to be non satisfactory. It colors the tone a bit and chokes out some dynamics. Go with a dedicated 4CM noise gate, such as the G string, for more transparent results. Just my 2 cents.
