Deer Antlers for Guitar Hangers?

My house has a rustic thing going on and I just had my basement finished with one room being a small music room. The contractor that did it is a friend and hunting buddy. He hit me up today with the idea of using deer antlers to make wall hangers. Cool idea, but my immediate concern is for whether or not they could damage the finish on guitars. Evey guitar stand and wall hanger I have ever seen has padding on it. Would the weight of the guitar lead to indentations if it is right against the hard surface of the antlers?

Aside from the PC and anti-vegan thematics, I'd say don't do it as the organic structure of antlers is not something that would take well to:
a) coverings of foam
b) any smart sealant applied to the antlers to protect the actual guitar
c) and naturally, they'd have quite an abrasive effect on the neck tenon or points-of-contact and...
d) being as organic as they are, the chemistry might be a little weird for any nitro/poly/wood prolonged contact

Just my 2 cents.

Doesn't sound like a great idea to me. I think you would be better off using elephant tusks side by side. Like on an elephant before you killed it, just closer together. They won't be using them anymore, so why not?

While I think the concept is cool as hell, I think this pretty much nails it from a technical standpoint.
Probably not a great idea.

wrap the contact areas with suede like the stand in the third pic. I think you'd be fine.

I did it for a picture, but wouldn't leave it that way..

I’d do it. I’d just cover the spots that was going to contact the guitar. Maybe just wrap cloth around it.

I know this isnt the answer your looking for, but have you considered using the hoofs ...used for Rifle holders under a trophy mount.
And decent taxidermy can rig up your axe for a wall mount.
Plus put the antlers in way that would complement it.

Shit, I might have to do this.
