Ever get an amp home and just KNEW that it wasnt for you.
Not that it was a bad amp or anything like that.
Just that it didnt fit for you.
Alot of people say ...."Tubes werent burned in....You dont know how to dial it in...
Wrong Guitar.....wrong Cab....wrong pickups.....Yadda Yadda...."

But just something about it didnt click.

For me??
Splawn Nitro.
They are great amps. Heard some killer recordings and live shows with guys playing it.
I just didnt click with it.
I knew after 30 minutes of playing it.

Tell your story on this....... :D

in before "OMGZ, why would u buy an amp without trying it?"

AND

in before "there are no amp stores around here, dipshit"

That said, I knew the Mesa 2:fifty power amp wasn't for me. I also never really connected with the Soldano SP-77. Oh, and the Digitech 1101 never sounded quite right.

Peavey JSX. Just couldn't get a tone I liked out of it!

Another for the Splawn Nitro. I enjoyed the QR's I had, but I knew after plugging in for 5 minutes that the Nitro wasn't going to be for me. I've heard some great tones with them, it just didn't suit me when I playing it.

Rivera knucklehead reverb, Peavey XXX 40 watt combo, Vox AD50. I didn't like any of them from the time I plugged into them.

triple recto...I don't even know why I bought the thing...lol....got it home and played that thing for almost the full return period that GC allowed..couldn't coax a single tone that worked for me....totally not suitable for my style...oh well..

Too many to count but will keep them to myself as some are members here and well..ya know... lol!!

In defense of the "put the right tubes in it" argument":

When I first got my Lonestar I thought it was definitley NOT for me. I knew it was a lower gain amp than my XTC but this Lonestar's gain was so low it was stupid low. I was ready to get rid of it 10 minutes after I got it. I even tried to return it to the seller. I finally ended up going to a GC and playing another Lonestar and was surprised by how much more gain it had. I decided to pick up some pre-tubes and pop em in my Lonestar. The difference was huge! Now the Lonestar (with an OD in front) is my favorite amp...even more so than my XTC. It was just a matter of putting in tubes that were up to spec.

IMHO when it comes to tube amps you need to at least verify that tubes are up to spec and that the amp is biased correctly before passing final judgement.

ENGL Invader 100.

I wanted to like it soooo much but I knew after 10 minutes on it that it wasn't gonna do it for me. I was super bummed as that amp had everything (on paper) that I ever wanted in an amp.

That was the last time I ever bought an amp based on clips. I will never do it again.

Funny enough, I was going to say the Framus Cobra. Brings back memories, huh?

Hey man, how's it going? I hope all is good for you. So, you tried the Engl Morse? I've been waiting to hear someone chime in on that amp. Tell us more...

Wasn't mine but the hype was through the roof. OD100SE sounded like God on the clips. Not so much in person.
