Diezel Big Max

I have the Big Max and recently picked up a 2022 VH4. I love the Big Max, it’s more vintage voiced than the other Diezels I’ve tried and the cleans on the low input are incredible. It has been my ‘gateway’ Diezel as I then bought a Hagen, VH2 and now the VH4.

One of them will have to go but it’ll be fun comparing them and deciding.
I’d be interested to hear/read your thoughts on the Hagen vs VH2!

I would buy the VH2 over the Hagen any day of the week. The Hagen is cool but a very fuzzy sounding amp. Like Peter’s take on an Orange. The VH2 is a slightly more modern take on the VH4 with reduced features.

I had the opportunity to play one briefly, and frankly I found the Big Max more immediate and organic than the VH4. Fewer channels, but a really lively dynamic under the fingers. It's a pity that he is so rare, he has a real character.

Your ears do not deceive you! It’s definitely less compressed and more organic/raw than the newer production VH4’s. (Early Blueface models are more like the BM.) I love it, great amp! Takes boosts insanely well too, which no other Diezel I’ve owned really does.

Everyone loves the simplicity of a one channel amp. Then they want more channels and those should be switchable.
"Peter, can't you do a 5W version with 6 channels?"
