Hi

Sorry to have to make this my first post here, but I have a problem with my Einstein. I got it secondhand about a month ago. All seemed in order, the amp worked fine up until now. It's in excellent cosmetic shape.

Earlier today I turned the amp on and all was well, but I just tried it this evening and there is nothing - no transformer noise, no LEDs are lit. I've tried/checked the following:

- A different power cable
- A different plug socket
- The fuse in the rear of the amp appears to be intact

Anyone got any ideas?

Outlet tripped ?

IIRC, Einstein has an internal fuse for the mains.

I run the amp with a surge protector, though what good they are is debatable I guess.

So, my only option is to open the amp up? Is the internal fuse going indicative of a bigger problem?

Thanks for your help.

O.K., I re-read your post. Sorry, my eyes hurt today.

Swap out the fuse. It may blow again quickly if you have a bad power tube so
be ready.

If it's a 100W I recall a 5X20mm 6A Slo-Blo inside the amp.
If you had a surge it could have blown, but it rarely does.
Don't panic.....

It's a 50watt model. If anyone could let me know what fuse I need to get in advance so I don't have to leave the amp laying around open, it would be much appreciated! :)

Trying not to panic at the moment!

I would replace the mains fuse first. In the small fuse drawer there is usually a spare.

The mains fuse being the internal or external one? I just opened up the amp and am ashamed to say I couldn't find the fuse! Only had a quick look and my eyes also hurt today!

The mains is the external one in the IEC power jack.

If their is a fuse, it would be not far from where the power supply cable leads connect to to circuit board.
It would say F1.

Depending on your version, the fuse you may need to replace is hidden under the left hand of the back board.
Also, after looking through my files, the fuse below the ribbon cable is 5X20 1.6A Slo-Blo.

I'll investigate the mains fuse and that one then. I had no idea there was a fuse near the power in.

Thanks again!

Mains fuse was blown, so going to replace that and see what happens. Unfortunately there was no spare, so it will have to wait til tomorrow.

Happy to report that it was just the mains fuse and that the amp has worked fine ever since it was changed.

Great news !!!

If you can, add "Solved" at the end of your thread title so it's a closed case
and your still a happy Diezel owner. ;)
