I've pretty much already accepted that I have to buy another vh4. It's completely irrational and I don't care.
Did you sell your VH4?

Funny, that out of those three amps, the Herbert is obviously the most "metal" capable out of the trio, but the guy testing them played the least aggressive when demoing the Herbert. It's too bad he didn't get with it on the Herbert, like he did with the Hagen demo. He was laying down some pretty heavy riffage on that Hagen.

Most metal capable? All 3 are perfect metal amps.
It's pretty much a fact that for nu metal, as heavy as it gets, the Herbert is the top dog. It's all in the mid cut feature, of which is lacking on the other two amps.

That's not a fact... But here is a fact the vh4 has been used more and recorded more than Herbert. Killswitch Metallica staind tool just a few off the cuff.

And the VH4 has been on the market nearly 10 years longer than the Herbert. So duh......

To continue this would be a waste of time, so.... ok Cujo, you are totally right and I'm wrong, you win. Can I go now?

+1, would have been cool if all 3 were recorded the same way as the VH4. Out of all those vids the VH4 video sounded best to me.

sick demos, thanks for posting that! All of them sound pretty badass with that guy playing. This does not help my Hagen gas. :inlove:

Admit it, you want to have too a desk of Diezel, but only with REAL VH4s :D

to me the VH4 sounds the best out of these 3 amps.. I'd kinda tell that the hagen is somehow 'stiffer' appearing, can't describe it but there's something in the bass area that sounds 'stiffer' or 'harder' as if there was too much bass coming out of the amp..
The VH4 sounds juicy with such a nice singing voice on the 4th channel and with a super full growl on ch3, lovely.

I own the VH4S and the Herbert Mk2. I find myself preferring the Herbert one month and the VH4 the next. So I love them both.
The Herbert handles tunings lower than Drop C# noticeably better than the VH4.
With the right humbuckers, the VH4 can get great classic rock vibes in channel 2 that the Herbert can't quite achieve in Channel 2(-).

i covet that LP. I really wish these amp tester dudes could learn to record the amp sound without getting the physical sound of their pick clicking on the strings in the room.

3 different versions of awesomeness. Seems like the Herbert is an amp that sounds killer in the room or recorded but could get buried in the live mix. If the mids were more forward I think I would dig it more. The VH4 sounded killer. That's my favorite.

Gotta say, I dug listening to the player as much, no, more than the amps. That guys has some skills and is versatile.

I've owned all three. Recorded and live. Hagen is still with me. But all are awesome. Hagen just feels like a mix of herb/vh4 n then some.

Hagen.

Followed by the VH4.

Then the Herbert.

Only my PERSONAL preference, and that's WHY there are SEVERAL models to choose from. It's not a right or wrong scenario, only right and wrong for the particular owner/player/listener.

Peace,
Mojo

You got the order right!

I have recently purchased the Herbert and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow! I highly recommend Brad King of King Guitars if you are in the market for one. He is truly one of the greats and will get you one for a great price! I am recommending him to all of my musician colleagues. Check him out and you will not be sorry!
