I prefer the VH4 specially for the clean and dirty bluesier tones. The heavy stuff is a match between the VH4 and the Hagen (the hagen sounds REALLY REALLY good, I can tell the VH4-like qualities with a bit more saturation in there)

But IMO this VH4 demo in particular is THE BEST ONE out there right now. He really made that amp sing in this demo.

Hagen:

Herbert:

VH4:

For my style the herbert wins. You just have to dial it in right.

That dude can play!! Anyone that can jam some Kotzen and Gilbert stuff is cool by me. Having played the Herbert and VH4 I could be totally happy with either but kinda lean towards the VH4. Like both the Hernie and VH4 more than the Hagen. Maybe I would feel different if I was in the room. Killer vids. Thanks for posting these.

His demos are great, I think I've watched most of the ones on his page but for some reason haven't seen these. I usually fast forward through demos but I end up watching his all the way through for the most part :) Thanks for posting these.

Diezel are king!
Owned all three Hagen is my favorite. Offers a big dirty raw grind the others don't.

Next up the Diezel preamp can't wait !

A video post of a new amp? Taking all that time to record edit and upload?

Hell he should have just typed it out.........................

JUST stumbled across these videos last night, and even though I have a Hagen on the way I have to say the VH-4 sounds the best by far in these videos...

btw those vids are awesome, great reference for those amps
I agree, good stuff

I need to play a Hagen to know for sure but I don't think it gets much better than the VH4.

Interesting.....as a metal guy, I'd always assumed I'd dig the Herbert the most, but for me in those vids it was a toss-up between the Hagen and the VH4. They both seemed spongier, looser and thicker....tones seemed to be more workable but nothing that couldn't be tightened up with a gate, some palm muting and the right pups. Dug the cleans more too. The Herbert seemed more one-dimensional in this aspect...don't get me wrong, the tone was godly.
Thanks for posting this, very informative.

Funny, that out of those three amps, the Herbert is obviously the most "metal" capable out of the trio, but the guy testing them played the least aggressive when demoing the Herbert. It's too bad he didn't get with it on the Herbert, like he did with the Hagen demo. He was laying down some pretty heavy riffage on that Hagen.

I've pretty much already accepted that I have to buy another vh4. It's completely irrational and I don't care.

Join the club. I bought a second planning to sell my first one on the spot... Didn't happen. Although 14 months later I'm consider it just to get my hands on a Hagen.

Guess it is all taste. I had all three the Hagen just rips like a chainsaw. Nevertheless all three rule in their own likeness !!!

Rack mount Diezel please !

Nice! Been watching his demos for awhile now. Love his Bogner 20th demos.
These Diezels all sound amazing! And someone finally made the Herbert sound good!  Must be a difficult sound to capture bc usually Herbert demos sound awful! Best Hagen clip I've heard also. The VH4 sounded just like it did when I played it-amazing!
Wonder what speakers he has loaded in that Egnater cab?

Most metal capable? All 3 are perfect metal amps.

Hagen sounded best to me, great clips but until you've played it in person their is just no way to know if you will gel with it or not although I'm as guilty as anyone at buying them without playing em first. :D Would love to try any diezel.

It's pretty much a fact that for nu metal, as heavy as it gets, the Herbert is the top dog. It's all in the mid cut feature, of which is lacking on the other two amps.
