I thought this at first but on the other hand, Im far from a purist when it comes to the blues and I think that within reason, its way open to interpretation and artistic licence.

The fan part was pretty funny but I would think at this point that Vai would have that a fan patch on his pedalboard so he wouldnt have to summon a roadie to turn it on...

I really respect you tons with your playing and tastes in tones. I wish I had half your chops even though they aren't always my thing. But quite honestly slagging on your peers and fellow musicians is IMHO quite lame. So you don't dig him or his playing. Cool. You had to just cringe while watching this right? So funny. I truly can't think of a player that has more blues in his soul than Steve Vai. Except perhaps, Kerry King, Andres Segovia or Brittney Spears. Other than them, Vai is the bluesiest musician on the face of the earth. AND!!!!!!!! That the freaking guy showed THAT MUCH concern for his fan not being on, is just fodder for Rig Talk fun. How can we just let that go? How can Randy not have posted that?

There has been much crying and whining that Rig Talk ain't what it used to be (much of it by me ) but the day mentoneman stops responding in his inimitable way to Steve Vai threads on Rig Talk is the day the final nail goes in the coffin.

That's definitely not the Vai that I've enjoyed over the years. Bad night, bad gig, whatever, but with his band he's great and he would NEVER have had to asked for the fan to be turned on. I hope Mr. Vai had a provision in his rider that the venue/event pays a heavy fine if the fan isn't on and ready to go within 3 minutes of show time.
