yup killer pedal, I also have a Wilson overdrive which is a boutique 808 type pedal and I can't say it really sounds "better" than the monkey. I agree the mixer out is smoother and the bass control is awesome. I personally like it much more as a boost but it's good for an overdrive too.

I had a buddy that swears by it. He had all sorts of boutique pedals, and after a while, he just sold them all and kept the Bad Monkey. It did sound pretty good IMO. For the price, it is the problem solver.

I have both a U.S. and Chinese made Bad Monkey's. Can't really go wrong for what they cost.

Do they sound different?

I let a friend borrow mine and he pulled the battery leads out while removing a battery. Wonder if it will still work if I plug it into my PP2?

I've been using my PP2+ for years, and I've recently begun removing the battery harnesses from all of my pedals. It's one less thing that can go wrong, and I can't see myself ever needing the battery leads anyway. You don't need them with most pedals, should be fine. Verify that the input jack is a 'stereo' jack (3 prong).

As for the pedal, I've considered buying one, but they're difficult to mod since they're SMD component based... so it is of no use to me :D
