I like all those guys.
But that tuned down version.....
Just did not sound right.

It would've been cool if Dio had materialized and blasted that guy in the balls after he said, Rainbow in the Clouds......

Campbell may have been "better" than Goldy, but he hasn't played anything useful since 1985.

I will gladly send you Viv's new album "Heavy Crown". Craig Goldy has not played anything useful in ages. In those videos of Dio's Disciples he looks like he is just collecting a paycheck. I cannot say the same for Vivian and The Last in Line.

Goldy has not played anything useful ever!!!

Exactly what I was thinking.

Well I was thinking that but thought it was a bit harsh. Dream Evil has a few good songs IMO

Yeah Dream Evil has a few good songs!!! I just could not get into Goldy's playing and still can't.

I'm not a fan of Viv's work with Leppard. That band died when Steve Clark died IMO. But Viv's early work with Dio was just friggin awesome and influenced more players of the era than anything Goldy ever did or will do (though he's a great player). "Rainbow in the Dark" was my first serious note-for-note solo. My band used to play that one, as well as "Don't Talk to Strangers", "We Rock" and "Last In Line". The solo for that last one was just perfect and could not have possibly been any better/cooler. Very lyrical and memorable.

Agreed! Although I've heard that Jake E Lee wrote Don't talk to Strangers....that might be my favorite Dio tune...

  Reminded me of 3 years ago and Whitesnake...loved the band but Coverdale was singing every tune in drop C....and he still couldn't hit the notes!

Hmmm, dont' know how I feel about this stuff above.....But in regards to Goldy's work with Dio....Man he wrote some VERY good stuff with Dio and he was very good in Dio.

Dream Evil is a good album with some great songs.....Sunset Superman(awesome), all the fools sailed away, naked in the rain, title track, When a Woman Cries, Night People.....Come to think of it, I think Dream Evil is a DAMN good record...I pretty much love all of the tracks, it's Classic Dio. Goldy gets flack because he's not the original guitarist, but he was very good in Dio.... Some Great stuff on Magica...come on. I'm gonna go against the grain here and say Goldy was kick ass in Dio. If you love Dio how can you not appreciate this:

People don't talk much about Rowan Robertson much but he was very good too....Lock Up The Wolves was a very underrated album that had some killer classic Dio songs:
This song is always beautiful, just WOW in the extremes(My Eyes):

Sorry guys, I'm a super huge Dio fan(Miss you Ronnie).

Magica is awesome if you ask me. I think Goldy's a fantastic player as are all of Dio's choices. Get real.

Any fans of the Tracy G. era Dio? He's actually a friend of mine, I remember meeting George Lynch at one of Tracy's pre-Dio gigs, he was a fan of Tracy's as well, he plays through Randall RG-100 solid state amps, the same ones that Dime use to use.

I guess I'm a fan of both versions with Viv and Goldy, didn't listen to much after those two if I'm honest....

Right on! I actually saw Dio on the Magica tour, Lynch Mob and Armored Saint were there that night as well...It was so loud I'm actually still more deaf on one side that then other lol.....I got so lucky that night and I met Ronnie, Bain, and Lynch all that night. I was wearing my genz benz G-FLex Lynch shirt, he got a kick out of it lol.

I carried my Hear N' Aid VHS with me in case I got to meet Ronnie and Lynch and they both autographed it, another thing that was cool is a month later I saw Yngwie in the same venue on the WTEAW tour and got to meet him too after the show as well...I also brought that Hear N. Aid VHS with me and he autographed it as well....

So I have Dio's, Lynch's, and Yngwie's autograph on my Hear N. Aid video(they were pretty blown away when I broke out that video)....

Yes, the Dio Disciples stuf isn't very good, but watch this videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOMiENZOQDk. Goldy is seriously smokin'. In my opinion, better than Aldrich and better than anything Viv has done since he left Dio.

I liked Robertson the best of the bunch. Smokin player and you could hear how hungry he was when he was young and on Lock Up The Wolves. I like him better overall than Campbell mainly because to me, Vivian always sounded like he was running scales when he played fast. I like it, but it never felt out of this world and like something I could not do. I like more vibrato and phrasing. Let's be honest though, Dio never hired a bum on any of his albums.

Been listening to Resurrection Kings. Stuff is really growing on me, and Goldy's playing is great. Last in Line is also very good, let's face it..both guys are talented players who are still doing it and I'm glad they are.

I know I'm not the only one here who watched this video a million times lol;)
