Do stainless frets "sound" different?

Let's see, we have some forumites who have actually had guitars refretted and can compare 'before and after' with non and ss frets and say it makes no real tonal difference, and someone who has an opinion derived from Ed Roman's website.

Just recapping the thread for those who want the Reader's Digest version. :)

How so? Caught what, the fact that you and your other half are wagon pullers with no clue other than what a public forum packed with bad information from (for the most part) hacks willing to take the placebo in leu of reality as truth.

If you feel that way about this forum, why don't you get the hell out ?

The same question was directed at Carl for years and was never answered. I doubt you'll get an answer here either. Some guys are just bitter for whatever reason, at what, who knows.

Not for nothing but who pissed in Kings corn flakes.

All I can say is WOW!

Thats true. This guy is on his way to becoming a Carl Jr. Not as bad as the real deal, but still completely annoying. I think Carl Jr. works; it has a good ring to it, unlike SS frets

Tom Andersons use SS and they don't sound like crap.

 Indeed ... I have 2 Andersons both with stainless steel frets and both sound killer !

If anything they may add slightly to the HiFi vibe that some call bright .

I havent owned one, but I have done fret work on a guitar that had SS frets. The stuff is a huge pain in the ass to work with, which I can almost guarantee is where most of the bad press comes from. But IMHO its total bullshit when people slag the stuff off just because its difficult to work with. Ed Roman is full of shit on almost every other topic he rants about, the SS fret rant is no different. I cant belive anyone would take any advice from someone that says it is impossible to get a clear sounding rhythm tone from the neck humbucker of a 22 fret guitar. If he really believes the "harmonic node" argument then he dosent know a goddamn thing about a guitars harmonic structure.

Tom Andersons DO have a HiFi vibe I've noticed, long before they used SS frets. I can hear it acoustically. Its a cool quality, really adds to the clarity. I can see how a vintage snob wouldn't like it though.

I don't notice any difference in feel or sound or how long my strings last. Since SS is gonna last longer, I guess I prefer it.
