Does this wiring diagram look okay?

A friend of mine is helping me to wire up my Mesa cabinet after an accident. This is the wiring diagram he gave me.

Does it look alright? He said this cab would work at 16 ohm mono when you plug into either jack in 16 ohm mode. He said even if you plug into either socket with a single speaker cable, it would work in 16 ohm mode.

However, if you flick a switch to stereo mode, however, it would be 8 ohm on each side. And if you plug into only one, it would just feed the speaker on that side.

I'm just wondering if this looks okay. It's apparently a tried and tested circuit.

What do you guys think?

Something doesn’t make sense. What is being added by the switch to change the impedance for each speaker seperately (that isn’t another speaker) to make them change from 16 ohms to 8 ohms to still allow only one speaker driver to function without seeing the other speaker?
