Dokken to reunite for the money only

When George brought his line of guitars out, recently… I knew he was in trouble for cash… He's a good soul, I have talked to him a few times and look into his eyes, he's a good man…
The only one that made money, or at least 'most' of the money, was Don…
Maybe the other guys saved their money more, but George has a big nut to crack with kids and the ex-wife

I think George is doing just fine financially. I met him a few times also and he could not be any cooler or nicer. George has a cool place in Arizona and I think he has a place in California too. I don't know that anyone from Dokken is living on their parent's couch. Jeff Pilson is doing very well as a producer and musical director for Foreigner. Don Dokken is still doing quite well also.

Mick Brown has been making money touring with Dokken, Ted Nugent and others. Mick is no longer playing with Nugent after many years in Ted's band. Ted decided to make some changes and I don't think Mick's services came cheap. Mick played briefly with Ronnie Montrose, but Ronnie could not afford Mick so Mick hooked Ronnie up with Miick's brother who plays drums in a style very similar to Mick.

no problem with doing it for the money ans being honest about it.

About the only way to make a living is touring and merchandise. Album/CD's sales don't give you much

Don can't sing worth shit and Lynch can play without a phase 90. lol.

Can it be any worse that David Lee Roth

That would be tough. But DLR was a bona fide superstar. My grandparents knew who he was. I have lots of friends who've never heard of Don Dokken.

I completely agree. I stopped listening to Dokken in the 90's and still listen to VH to this day.. I'm just saying if, you're going to pay to see these bands, you have to expect the limitations of a lead vocalist in there 50 and 60's. Usually...

This is what I thought, so who was he talking about?

Mick wasn't getting an annual salary with Ted. He was getting paid weekly and only when Ted was on tour. Even when Mick was with him, Ted had scaled back his touring a lot. So it was very much a part-time job that he had a few mos. out of the year. Might be fine for someone who was already well set-up and didn't need the income. But I know he was in rough shape for a while.

I think he has his own band now and recall seeing them on the schedule at Ramona Main Stage a few mos. ago. That place is in the middle of nowhere and not much of a draw. I saw Jeff Berlin, Scott Henderson and Dennis Chambers there on a Fri. night and Maragold the next night. No way those ticket sales came close to renting that place for the night. And those guys are far better known the Wild Mick Brown Band.

I hope they do well. They all seem like nice guys who still have their fans. But I don't see them making out like the Eagles' Hell Freezes Over Tour.

I gotta be honest here... Mick is one of my least favourite drummers. In fact, I would almost call him terrible. Whenever I listen to Dokken, it sticks out to me and I can't stand it. Always with that damn Moby Dick style Bonham tom fill in between verses and choruses. Ok, not that hair band drumming is out of this world, but some guys just have it, others don't fit. Lynch Mob had a much stronger percussion backline that's for sure.. I am sure he is a good drummer, just did not like his style at all.

Neither here nor there i suppose..

I know that we all have different tastes in music and style, but Mick Brown is easily one of my favorite drummers. Most drummers suck compared to Mick.

I get that.

They should call it something else besides a Reunion. Doesn't seem like much of a reunion to me. Maybe 'Last Tour for Some Extra Scratch Tour 2016'. :D I'm just saying, I'm not got going to knowingly fork over my cash knowing that all they want is my cash and are not really into playing together on stage as a you know.....a Band. How am I supposed to enjoy that?

I'd rather just watch old videos or put my headphones on and reminisce. At least with the last VH tour it appeared that Dave and Eddie had buried the hatchet and were genuinely having fun onstage.

There is a band out there recently that has 0 original members....who is that again?

and the suits at the record label!
Tom Petty is grimacing in pain for George, or so I'd like to imagine.

I have a dream that they could pull this off...that Don's efforts to heal his throat and some discipline allow for some respectable, if limited, vocals, and the backup vocals still bring it in a big way and fill in the rest.

That George is chasing Under Lock and Key tone live, mostly playing the Tiger and maybe a Kamikaze, and finds the pocket (at least reasonably) on all the old classics.

That they look happy on stage even if they don't feel it, and give everyone a great dose of nostalgia like for a night or two the big 80's fun was still alive.

They play here in the US and get a venue maybe in Vegas, somewhere that can pull a realistic size crowd together (I would easily travel for that). If Ratt could ever get their act back together, a double bill reunion, something like that (though that's a whole other can of worms).

And they do it just for money, but they do it well, and then that's that. I'm not saying this is in any way likely to happen, but if they were really really focused on just doing a great job for a brief reunion targeted to their longtime fans, I bet they could surprise us at least a little. There's no reason to believe history won't unfortunately repeat itself, along the lines of Mick's comments. But I'd love to be wrong, nothing but love for classic Dokken here.

Don will have to sing 2 whole steps down ...
This clip is recent. Don sounds good enough here.

don is a mo and a diva
lynch peaked during ulak tour and deserved all the accolades but never the same since-but nice guy
pilson was always solid
mick-pretty unremarkable

in general let that beaten horse stay washed up on the beach and dead but who can blame them for cashing in on the godzilla snack gravy train

I don't know how accurate the celebrity net worth sites are but they estimate Don Dokken is worth 10 million. They estimated George Lynch and Jeff Pilson both at 5 million each. No information was listed for Mick Brown, but hopefully he has stashed away some money over his career. A nice reunion tour paycheck would not hurt any of their retirement accounts.

So true, Pat!
Mick's fills always seem rushed, Always felt he was the weak link for sure...

Hope you're do'n great, 'my Brother'
Keith

Not really accurate, Lynch was on fire into the early 90's, Back for the Attack (Mr Scary?) and Wicked Sensation were hardly the decline. What Jeff and Mick did really well were the backing harmonies, Dokken was great at that stuff, not really demanding on the bass and drums which you could say about most 80's hard rock bands. I can honestly say I never listened to Under Lock & Key and said, damn, if it wasn't for those drum fills, this would be a killer album. And Don is Don, diva or not, his band and for a period that dysfunctional group put out some stellar records.

The 80's wouldn't be the same without the video for "Breaking the Chains"! I can see that hot girl lip syncing "I love you" and "I'll come back"!
