Dokken to reunite for the money only

If you are a Dokken fan then why wouldn't you want to see the show? I guarantee you have paid to see other shows where the band wasn't getting along and doing it for the cash, you just didn't know it.

They have to do more shows in the US. I just can't believe they're signing on for a onetime show in SD of all places. Mick and George have a lot of peeps in Phoenix and plenty of my local Facebook buddies have been posting about this gig, gushing over it. I have to think they'll be doing more shows in the US. If they're doing this for the money, then they'll never do better than with the original lineup and in the current 80s hair band nostalgia fad. I'd jump on that train and ride it until the end of the line if I were them and needed the cash.

Japan and Germany were the big markets for Dokken in yesteryear,
No money to be made in USA for this...
The very few of us who still have interest would NOT even break costs... :aww:

I'm not a fan at all and the fans I know in Phoenix are friends of the band and would probably get in on the guest list for free. So I suppose there's not a lot of money for them in Phoenix. But George seems to have quite a following here and on TGP. Some people have called me insane because I'm not a Lynch disciple, but he just does nothing for me. But man, some of his fans are real diehards who would go to the ends of the Earth to see him.

I played in my longest band for 14 years. Most of those year I did it for the money, as it was very good money. We called ourselves "musical whores". It's showbiz.

I've worked my day job for the past 21 years. I haven't loved/liked my job for many years. It's just for the money that I stay here... and short of being fired, won't go anywhere, because I make good money.

That's life.

Having said that... the only bands that I go to see generally do it because they like playing together (if not touring). This includes bands like Rush and Iron Maiden. They're still passionate about their craft and their legacy, and so are their fans. That's why they're not has-beens like Dokken and so many other 80s bands. Not to mention the fact that both of those bands have a more timeless vibe. But don't get me wrong, if Dokken was touring and kicking ass, and happened to come through my area, I'd go see 'em. I still dig the old stuff and once in a while I crank up Dream Warriors, It's Not Love, Breaking the Chains, and Into the Fire and jam along.

In my opinion, the worst story ever is Ratt. I only say that because they got back together and actually had a great album several years ago. Then they got Juan Crocier back in the band and I was excited about their future and getting back to something like what Whitesnake is doing right now. Unfortunately, it eroded faster than any band I've ever seen, complete with three RATT bands. The one touring is with Bobby Blotzer. Who the hell wants to see one with him? He barely wrote anything and is sitting on a drum stool in the background.

I saw that Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns are friends again so wouldn't be surprised if an L.A. Guns reunion happens soon. All of these bands need to do one last hoorah and do a traveling 80s metal tour. Get like six bands and let them do 30 minutes each. Dokken, Ratt, L.A. Guns, Dokken, Whitesnake, and Stryper, or something similar. Do the lights, the outfits, the hair. Just go all out and then call it a day.

I am one of those Lynch fans for sure and will probably fly out to see the show in South Dakota. Lynch, Jeff Beck and Yngwie are my biggest influences and George Lynch will always be my main guy. George is playing better than ever these days. In my opinion there is still no one better for rock and classic metal.

I don't think I could attend anything with Don Dokken on vocals.

I saw them in town at a medium size club in 1982', i don't think anything will top that.

Tracii and Phil are doing shows, but there is NO WAY IN HELL Tracii will ever play with Steve Riley again. I know people said that about axl and slash but when it comes to Tracii and Steve I can't see there is any "coming back"

LOL! It is funny you responded with that because as soon as I posted, I thought "oh crap, forgot about the drummer". :)

Good idea, but it doesn't seem fair to the others that Dokken gets to play twice :poke:

Don't Lynch me, but what Dokken album is the best one to check out first?

Check out the live Beast From The East record. It has a good mix of songs and Lynch is on fire throughout.

Yep!! Me also…

I saw them open for Ryche a few months back and it was one of the worst vocal assaults my ears have suffered yet. They background "vocals" aren't on tape, that's for sure! It was cringe-worthy for 85% of the set. I dig mistakes live, I love seeing/hearing the human aspects of musicians, but this was just bad.
