Don Dokken

I think maybe he should just not sing. He can just stand there and be a figure head. 'Hey - this is my band'.

I mean Reb is singing, drummer singing, everyone singing. Then, get the audience singing and Don can just stand there.

These legacy acts should have faded-away gracefully, but no...

its sucks that with all the bands NOT touring, or playing any live gigs, we get fucking half ass Dokken and half ass Great White as the only ones actually playing live lately.

Oh man, speaking of drunk/drugged people. I remember that Great White clips years ago that someone posted and the singer was messed up. He is better now I guess but I thought he was going to die.

I had afriend of a friend who did some work I guess as a roadie or some shit for Don Dokken. He said Reb was a class act but he said he said he watched Don do stuff a man shouldnt witness another man doing. I asked what that meant and he basically said its a story best told in person.

He did mention he watched Don eat a whole lasagna before a gig and that it was horrifying to watch. He didnt want to go into anything else online.

LOL, good Lord. The lasagna thing has me dying!!
Now I'm picturing Chef Boyardee in the "Dream Warriors" video.....

I can't even imagine some of the stuff these bands have done. I have read Marilyn Manson's bio, The Dirt (which smokes the moview btw), and NOFX's bio. Those three books alone will make you afraid to go to bed sleeping on your stomach.

Horrifying? That's fucking epic; I'd pay to watch Don Dokken scarf an entire lasagna

I think this might be my favorite Dokken tune. It came out around the time I started playing guitar. My buddy's cool older brother played parts of it on a Peavey Mantis thru a Backstage Plus. I was in awe. :D
I think I'll just listen to this instead....

The album you want to check out is 1990 Don Dokken "Up from the Ashes" with John Norum and Billy White on guitar and Mickey Dee on drums. The who album owns. Not one filler tune on the whole album. Everyone is at the top of their game.

That was very painful to watch, but at least a honest performance. Lol He is not using autotune or doing playback. So many singers are faking it these days (Young and old).

Congrats mate; you found a silver lining. Well done!

That said, if ever there was a solid case for AutoTune, this would be it.

Hell yeah, he should do that instead of trying to sing

It doesn't make me feel good to say that about the singer from one of my favorite bands but it is what it is....

That’s sad to see, man.

I know I’ve said it before in the previous “Holy Shit, Don Can’t Sing Anymore” threads, but they opened for Ryche a few years back and it was horrendous. At least in this vid, the background vox are alright, but when I saw them it just made everything from shitty to really shitty when they’d all sing.

I don’t mean to sound like I’m just trashing him/them. I don’t get the idea he’s still performing because he loves performing, but to keep bills paid. Sucks to be at that age and not have financial freedom to just chill out.

Are you shitting me? Wow. They must be out of their rabbit-ass minds to open for Queensryche. Good lord. Their management really thru them under the bus with that one. "Uh, good news is that we got the gig in Peoria....Bad news,...."

That is like being the guy flying the Cessna around at an airshow right before the Thunderbirds come out. LOL.

LOL, I know me too. Oh well. I'm a huge Motley Crue fan and I was laughing along with everyone else when Vince came out during one of the gigs looking like Chris Farley. You can almost "hear" the shock on people's faces when they saw his gut.

Two hallmarks of 80's 'hair band' players: 1. Every other note is played as a pinch harmonic. 2. Every other word is fuck.

disabilty payments just ain't enough
don must have astronomical medical bills to pay
poor guy

Looks to me like he is in pain while on a strong dose of pain medication. Something I can identify with, because when my arthritis is at it's worst and loaded up with pain/anti-inflammatory meds, I walk (shuffle) and bend in a similar way.

My first thought...and maybe he imbibed too? Codeine and alcohol...oof!

It's sad to watch and painful to hear..wish him all the best.

I actually think Don and George honestly like and respect each other but they have always been like brothers. They just get on each other's nerves so much that eventually things would fall apart. They created some great music back in the day, no doubt. Over the years, music has saturated the scene with people being able to record in their homes, etc. Back in the day you had a handful of killer bands, and then followers bringing up the rear. Anyone who grew up in the 80s knows you had a handful of the powerhouses and Dokken was up there.
