Dream Theater's Astonishing.

Dream Theater is one of my favorite bands of all time. Lately though they have really been missing the mark. There newer albums just feel uninspired. I kinda don't blame them though. There are only so many notes

I have not heard Astonishing, now I'm worried.

I'd say 65% of the album sounds like this, maybe more.

Something funny. Track 18 disc 1 is a rip off of that sad walking away music from the Hulk tv series from the 70's.

Funny, my wife has been on an original Hulk kick lately. Might have to pay more attention...

Another kick ass high energy tune from this album. :bleh:

. There was a track on a disc in the 90s when another guy had a few lead vocal lines- maybe it was a keyboardist or guest vocalist? It was low and growly and had angry blues tone; that is what they need to win me back.

That was Dug Pinnick from King's X, and yes, he's one of my favorite singers of all time.

I never really got into Kings X but man, that guitar player is awesome. Actually, the whole band is but I never knew the guitarist was that legit.

Ya Ty Tabor is great! He got some great tones on Dogman. Not sure how, I cant stand the amp he used, but...

So glad I did not waste my money on this!!! I used to be a huge DT fanboy and had/still have all of the killer boots and the Bootleg Series stuff. Lost interest just after Octavarium.

A little OT, but for all you guys like me that really dig the old Dream Theater stuff, what other bands are you into?
Just looking for some new music..

Here's an album that's brings back some Operation Mindcrime mojo IMHO. These guys write some really good tunes, some modern production, and a bit of an 80's feel. Every album they have is worth buying. They're working on a new one.

I now have this album on and it's awsome!
