What is Everyone's Dream Tone? That Tone you Hear in your Head that you've been chasing your whole life.

Mine would be A Cross Between Joey Z's Tone from the Live LOA DVD that they released in 2003 & The Terror Song "Nothing to me"(Track #3) from the Album Lowest of the Low & all of Fear Factory's Demanufacture Album.

Well you can buy a Fortin Demanufacture head when it's released and there ya go.

the tone i had last night at rehearsal was crushing. adding a 2x12 to a 4x12 is always a good thing.

As much as that sounds like a great thing....I don't have the Money.

For me it's between 3 tones. The Fortin NATAS, Dino's Demanufacture tone, and a Mesa Dual Rec Rev F that I run with a Fortin BLADE. The boosted Dual Rec tone is just so classic to me. The NATAS I can't convince Mike to build me, and obviously, can't get Dino's Demanufacture tone, so I stick with the ol' Dual Rec and boost the hell out of it!

For me:

Funny I get closer by runing EMG 81's through my EVH than when I ran passives through my boosted Krank, which is what they used.

Start saving!

Accept’s “Balls to the Wall” tone still destroys me to this day.
King Diamond’s “Abigail” is another favorite. Only wish the guitar was a little more up front on that album.
Decapitated’s last two albums (whole catalog really). Vogg’s guitar sounds like a chainsaw attached to a jackhammer. Unfuckingreal... :worship:
I could go on and on... :D

EVH on Live Without A Net. It's the perfect raw Marshall tone, with a hint of pitch and delay. Absolutely beautiful.

Carcass Corporal Jigsore Quandary, Bolt Thrower World Eater, Bongripper Satan Worshipping Doom, Mastodon High Road, Pelican's Drought.

I really like 3 or 4 what I would call distinct tones. Thankfully with the few pieces of gear I have I can do my own variation of those. Once I get my 2204 back from being modded and my KSR PA50 I will be oddly complete on the amp front. Starting to look at pedals and more guitars now. I need some sort of Rat, some fuzzes, and a few different boosts to toy with

Lynch’s ULAK, Adam Jones tones on ‘The Pot’ and AIC ‘We Die Young’ to name a few. But, important to note these are all multiple amps; studio magic.

Lynch Wicked Sensation, VH1, Nuno on Extreme’s self titled.

"Dream Tone" is more like dream "tones" because it's always a moving target, at least for me. I'll nail or get close to one tone and then chase another
(always want more, never satisfied....)

Right now, I'd say Nuno's tone on Waiting for the Punchline, but with more sustain. He really nailed it on that record. The tones especially on Cynical and Hip Today have been reference tones for me for years now.

This shit right here....it's so fuckin raw and chuggy.

today it is bloodbath, how the hell can they get an hm2 to sound like that? I can't figure it out.

Matt and Jon from Shadows Fall "the art of balance" and "the war within" tones. That's about holy grail to me. I saw shadows fall seven times and they are a helluva good band, players and guys. I have several signed posters of theirs.

ironically I have the exact amp that Jon sold to Octavio of Undeoath back in the day (before Undeoath sucked) that was one of the backups. Octavio lives near me and he came over on a Craigslist deal. Heck of an awesome guy. But I don't think that is what they used in the studio.

My second tone would be Matt Pike:s HoF and Sleep tones. Basically a metric fuck ton of Orange amps turned up way the fuck loud. I have yet to see Matt live yet.

Also Trivium had a great live tone in the Ascendancy tour, and I was a common acquaintence of Matt and Corry. But I am tbh not a huge Trivium fan. But the guys are cool and the live tone was fantastic.

High on Fire are more Soldano than Orange/Matamp. Even in his Matamp days he always had a Soldano SP77 (his Matamp was just a power amp/slave unit). When I saw them he used Marshalls but had a Supercharger GTO pedal on the floor.

Not sure if he runs the GTO with Sleep or actually uses Orange's amp gain. I wasn't close to the stage when I saw them.

Edit: ok someone posted photos. He uses the GTO with Sleep as well.
