the wood grained tag board always cracks me up;

makes the work look cheap like an old motel room in Schenectady...

Its some kind of composite and for that time period was innovative.

Also there is charring along one of the large caps, some sort of meltdown at one time.

What gets me is the 4 ohm speaker out, im kinda short on 4 ohm cabs.

Reminds me of old Fenders.

I don't see anything i have to have.

Actually Dan, it appears to me, as if the caps at the beginning of the preamp had goop on them and someone took it off somehow. That's how I see it. That silver mica and the one orange drop look to have been cover at one time. You wouldn't leave a burnt up/charred cap or resistor in any amp for any reason...regardless of the pedigree. The transformer looks to be a Fender to me, hence the 4ohm tap. You could play and 8ohm cab into this with no problems.
I saw the goop thats not it.

The big long orange cap 100uf 100V laying horizontal on the small board toward the edge of the chassis.

On the top edge of that small board there is black that looks like charring but IDK ? Why would that cap get that hot unless something fried.

I know amps run HOT at 4 ohms. Least thats been my experience.

I se what your looking at. It does look like something got heated up in that area for sure. Who knows? These amps can sound good in the right hands, but I agree with others that say there are tons of builders doing Dumble "like" amps that sound just as good or better in some cases.

If someone posted those guts, without mentioning what it was, most people would think it's a $900.00 amp at best...
I do NOT like them at all, but I guess I should have bought one (or 5) in 1991 when they were $5500.00...

You have to snort a big line of Cork before playing a Dumble or you're ears just won't understand...

I'm not seeing any gut shots. They must have pulled them or maybe Alexander's lawyers made them.

It really doesn't matter. There are 100% accurate schematics of all Dumble amps out there from before he started gooping the guts.

I had a boutique amp builder build me an exact clone of the OD Special from the schematics. Didn't cost me $100K either.

Nik from Ceriatone has them too & can build you an exact replica for peanuts.
