Schaller Locks:

Guitar: run the screw all the way in so you know it wont get bottomed out half way in. Pull it back out and drop a few dots of super glue on the screw, run it all in, that sucker'll wear out first b4 drop out of the guitar. Strap: Once you get the strap end all put 2gether, another drop or 2 around the nut/threads keeps it from backing out, lok that biatch down an with this setup you'll be able to swing your guitar around your neck like your favorite 80's metal cac
:D

I use Loc Tite but I like the idea of super glue. I would just be afraid that I would never be able to take it apart again.

1 or 2 small drops can usually still be manhandled for disassembly if need be... But why would you take it apart anyway?... by the time the locks need changing the glue usually gets weak enuf to pull apart without too much aggravation... AS LONG AS YOU DONT SOAK THE THING in Glue....

The part(s) that attaches to the strap are wear items (imo at least) and need to replaced on a regular basis depending on usage of course.

I especially notice this on the part where the strap attaches to the upper horn (on a strat shaped guitar) and not so much where the strap connects to the bottom of the body.

What I noticed is deep grooves start to form around the post of the locking mechanism and will eventually weaken it from holding.

When it starts to look like it will fail I pop a fresh one on. A new set will last for 2 changes since (for me) only the upper horn position the part gets the grooves worn in.

Other than that and keeping the nuts/washers tightened it's a pretty good system.

BTW, the Schaller fails if one little nut unscrews. no thanks. :aww:

I use lock washers between the nut and the "strap washer" it takes some effort to make those come loose even with a wrench or a socket if you tighten them enough.

Loc-tite. I have Schallers on all of my guitars, never had a problem.
THIS ^^
30+ years and counting with no failures.
Is it just me, or do all the MX guys use loc-tite?

  Every one of them I've known!!! I used to buy the big bottles instead of the little blue tubes.
