Ebay/Paypal rant

It has been mentioned several times in this thread different advice such as to not link a credit card to your paypal account, transfer the money from your paypal account right away, and withdrawal the money right away from your linked bank account. All seem like a logical defense but in my experience none of those things may matter if you care about your credit rating/score. Paypal will put a negative balance in your account and then give you 30 days to fund the account back to zero or they turn the negative balance amount over to credit collections. I am not saying the other suggestions are not valid but wanted to offer another perspective on something else to consider.

Since we are talking ebay, I recieved this mail the other day. I never sold anything though ebay but have an account in case I buy something. I haven't bought anything in the last 2 years at least, with zero issues! And I get this message. I tried to follow the links but get to the ebay FAQ and see no disputes or anything. What worries me is I have a credit card associated to paypal...

"Your eBay account has been suspended because recent account activity has raised security concerns. We've taken this precaution to protect our members while we make sure that the activity doesn't cause harm--even unintentionally--to the eBay community.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to use eBay in any way. This includes using another existing account or registering a new account.

Any outstanding fees will be due immediately, and any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file.

We appreciate your understanding.

Thanks,"

I wouldn't follow any links. I'd go on their main page and call them to one of the #s listed on their site. I wouldn't trust that email.

Yup, sounds like phishing to me. Check the domain on the links, usually dead giveaway.

LOL...have you replied to any emails claiming that you're the nephew of a recently deceased Nigerian prince and in line for a huge payday? Same thing :) ;)

fuck eBay and PayPal

Exactly. Unless absolutely something that is impossible to find elsewhere I avoid that place like the plague.

I had a Marshall for sale on ebay a few months ago..it sold but the guy never paid me..kept saying "just a few more days.." then I told him I was going to sell it locally-which I actually sold it here. He said he understood and no problem. Then I sent a "cancel transaction" form and he fought it..sending me all these "tuff guy" bitter emails. Funny shit. If ya buy something PAY FOR IT! I gave him a week..but the worse thing is I filed non-paying bidder, which canceled the transaction. Except TWICE now they've charged me their fees for the sale! I had the money refunded to me last month, and a week ago they took it out again! Goddammit...now waiting for the same refund AGAIN! :gethim:

I got this exact email from eBay today. Did you ever follow up to see if it was legit?
