Looking into a digital solution for effect and amp switching.

Should i just go for the VP4 (doesnt have switching relays but read the suhr microMIDI would do that) or the old FX8 II? Or does the Neural DSP the same?

Most of my amps does not support midi

HX Effects is the only one I have found for amp switching. Unless using midi, seems the others take some kind of conversion gizmo.

I have both the QC (mini) and the VP4. I use the latter the most for 4cm with my amps since it's in a pedalboard, while the QC sits in a rack drawer or on my desk. I am using the Suhr MicroMidi Control as well for channel switching since the VP4 does not have one.

The Fractal VP4 or Eventide H90 seem to be the most popular for this.

I'm running the VP4 with the Suhr midicontrol and it's been fantastic so far.

Currently using the VP4 with a Suhr Micro Midi to channel swith for all my amps. No regrets, i sold off my H90 a few months after getting the vp4, you really do not need more than 4 effects at a time, just make a different preset or scene with different variations

I also use the VP4 with the micromidi. I am very happy with it.

I find they all suck tone so I stick with pedals.
I have considered a VP4 with a parallel mixer that way I can run the whole thing with an analog dry through path.

That is how I run my old Axe II.

This looks like a really nice compact setup! Nicely done!

Do you still have to switch the Purple Nightmare pedal manually to change the channels on it?

I have to take a closer look at that Suhr midi switcher.

Thanks! No I am switching it via a secondo suhr micro midi control. This way I can add the Driftwood preamp channel OR the TS to whatever amp I have at disposal that day or use just that. It has also a suhr minimix II underneath so I can run the vp4 in series or parallel depending on the patch.

Can you explain further. Not sure I get it

The VP4 does not have analog dry through so it will digitize your tone 100%. Many people think this has a negative effect on your tone and dynamics.

Running it in a parallel mixer lets you always have an un-digitized signal. You get a more pure analog signal, but you lose the ability of using the series effects like compression, gate, eq, and tremolo.
