The VP4 does not have analog dry through so it will digitize your tone 100%. Many people think this has a negative effect on your tone and dynamics.

Running it in a parallel mixer lets you always have an un-digitized signal. You get a more pure analog signal, but you lose the ability of using the series effects like compression, gate, eq, and tremolo.
which parallel mixer would you use?

I know you didn't ask me but I would suggest the suhr minimix II for this specific use case because with an external switch you can mute the dry or the wet signal and thus you can use the parallel mix feature for some patches or going in series in other where it is required (e.g. when using a compressor fx in the loop or a tremolo effect).

Have ordered one :)

The problem with the MiniMix II is it does not output in stereo. If you are running a stereo effects unit you cannot get the stereo sound back into a stereo power amp.

I use the vp4 in 4cm so only mono for me. so it fits my use case and I guess the OP as well….in fact, for my stereo/wdw rack I use the musicom parallelizer v2!

I’d give the VP4 a shot in the loop before worrying about a mixer, I’ve used it in my 5153 and Plexi50’s loop without any noticeable degradation or tone suck. I’m using it in 4CM with whatever amp is hooked up to the pedalboard.

Have you compared the VP4 with the FM3 or Axe-Fx for the same purpose?

I wonder how transparent the VP is compared to the other Fractal units.

It’s now hooked up with my Hell Razor. With a midi device from a Danish friend. I can switch all modes on the HR. Works like a charm!!

If you already have the pedals, have you looked at something like the boss es-8, gigrig, or other switchers? Most if not all can control most amps, and the routing possibilities are very flexible, and it removes the issue of not using a pedal due to "tone suck" since it will only be in your signal chain while you are actively using it.

Yep, been using my FM9 in 4CM for a while now, less so with the AxeFX but I’ve done it in the past, no issues anywhere along the way. I use a breakout box with isolated jacks which likely goes a long way with the 4CM and noise, but for general transparency/tone suck, there’s no issues anywhere along the way.

i confirm , fractal gear (all) doesn t add any loose or color , completely transparent

I knew it! It’s a very effective solutions for fx with Amps.

And I also bought a Suhr minimix II. What should I use it for now?? Please help me 😅😅

Interesting. I have tried my FM3 and Axe II in the loop of my amps and I don’t like what they do to the dynamics. 4CM was even worse with 2 conversions.

Can you link to the break out box?

I use it for the loop section of the 4cm. In front I have a separate single mono looper. But that’s just me over enigineering stuff. If you don’t hear any loss in tone keep it as it is! The suhr in the loop works like a charm to me anyway
